I'm going to see how everything turns out. I still have my S9 so if I decide the pixel just isn't for me at least then I still have this to fall back on. Kind of in a win-win for me right nowHave fun with your Pixel purchase OP, but to me, I think the Galaxy S9 (and S10 around the corner) are better overall devices.
I think the Pixel appeals to a very small, very specific set of consumers and the Galaxy appeals to a much broader range of consumers.
I think the camera on the Pixel is better than the S9, but you'll only notice the difference if you're comparing them side by side. Picture quality isn't a *huge* step up, it's just a little bit better. S9 and every other flagship on the market all have excellent cameras overall. The Pixel has terrible audio in its video recording, so if you record video a lot, I'd steer clear from the Pixel.
Hopefully the camera, 'stock' experience (which imo hasn't been good since android 9.0 Pie) and fast updates are extremely important to you, because that's all the Pixel 3 has going for it. However if you prefer a less buggy, overall better experience with more polished hardware/software, then I would have gone with the Galaxy. The Pixel 3 feels like a beta device to me. I'm surprised at the staggering number of serious issues the phone has and how slow Google have been to fix them. I'm expecting this December patch to be huge with a tonne of fixes.

I have seen some of the renders for the S10 and it sure does look like it is going to be an awesome device! I really just wish they would stop with the curved display though. I've noticed that some things just aren't formatted for the screen so some of the text gets cut.
The S9 doesn't have a bad camera at all. It just doesn't seem to be suiting my needs at the moment. I have wiggle worms as children so being able to capture the perfect shot more often than not has me very, very intrigued! And the night shot thing just seems crazy amazing! If Samsung incorporated something like that into the galaxy line I'd be all in! The pixels design isn't nearly as "premium looking" as my S9 and lacks some of Samsung's luxuries but

I haven't had the privilege of fast updates or stock since Samsung devices have pretty much been the only line of android phones I've used, so there's nothing that I'd miss if I ended up just keeping my S9.
