So, most of the time when opening an app a pop up ad appears before it opens and while that happens the notification bar says that quickstep is causing making those ads appear, but I can't delete it cuz its a system app. How do I stop the ads from appearing, then? (I have android 11 go fyi)

Welcome to Android Central! Quickstep is the name of the stock launcher on Nokia phones, I believe. (The launcher is the app in charge of the homescreen interface.) I'm not sure if Android Go allows for 3rd party launchers, but you can see if you can install one like Nova Launcher, and set that to default.

Correction: Quickstep isn't the launcher included with Nokia phones, it's included with AOSP. Nokia phones come with stock Android, so they include Quickstep as the launcher
@Xdqwerty What device do you have? Is it an off-brand one?

Ah, thanks for that. I was used to the stock Android launcher being called "Launcher3" from the old days. Do you know when it became Quickstep?

I also wonder if the OEM can modify Quickstep to include junk like this. A 3rd party launcher like Nova is still worth a try, I think.

I don't know exactly, but I think around the time Android 5 (lollipop) came out. And apparently some people indeed refer to it as Launcher3 (still).

I was thinking the same! That's why I asked if the OP had an off-brand device. Most unknown phone brands bundle adware, malware, spyware, bloatware, and all sorts of creepy things into their stock ROMs.
