RAZR getting ICS

If speculation is true the moto RAZR could be releasing with ICS. Would this influence your choice in getting this over the new Nexus if thats the case?

Tasty, but as someone in the comments section already pointed out, the Motorola event is 7 hours BEFORE the Google announcement.

I actually wrote that article, and yes I was aware that the countdown does expire 7 hours before Samsung/Google Event on tuesday night in hong kong.

Although I doubt it will launch with ICS, I would choose this over the G-Nex if ICS is promised by the end of 2011. I have missed too many text messages to every root another device.

It will most likely release with gingerbread with ics coming next year. That's if a dev can't get this thing running ics before then.

I'm still up in the air on which to get. Ics at launch would push me towards the razr though.

Ics? absolutely not. gingerbread? Yes. Update to ics, still unlikely, though it's possible mange months down the road. The new verizon map just came out, nexus says 11/10... Where's the razr? I'm assuming 10/27 now..

So you think any phone with capacitive buttons will automatically excluded from an ICS update? No chance. There are a TON of phones out right now (read ALL current android phones) that have capacitive buttons. How smart would it be of Google to abandon these devices in the new OS? Ain't gonna happen! The most "restrictive" hardware limitation I could see is requiring dual core as ICS is supposedly optimized for it, but I don't realistically see that happening either. Will the RAZR get ICS? There is no doubt in my mind it will. Will it launch with ICS? I wish....

It would be a tough call, for sure. I'm an AOSP guy, but Motorola builds some quality devices. Their camera selection has me concerned, but they make great radios, great speakers, and did I mention great radios? And Google's potential acquisition of Motorola Mobility gives me high hopes for the future. Even if I go with G-Nex now, I will probably end up with a Google/Motorola phone in the future. YMMV,

It will probably no have ics they probably will not get the code till today for that. I am surprized and impressed b a few things on this phone so much I might get this instead of nexus. This phone i wll be built like a tank and I am sure ics will run like a champ. We will see but I thik the specs will line up the same or close to it plus the fact it is very well built being water resistant and will a very good 4g radio maybe even second gen to make a phone that thin. Once ics comes to this it can be a better phone than nexus but we will see.

Personally I have hated Motorola phones. Their camera quality has lagged far behind, and the build quality.....I just don't see it. My wife's D2 has been a POS from Day 1. Can't wait to upgrade it for her. Not this phone definitely is eye candy. However, with ICS about to launch on the Nexus, I just don't know why I would go with this. It does look awesome.....but so did the original razr at the time compared to other cell phones. Turns out it was a big POS.

Reading where they said moto haters might like this, well I'll keep an open mind, but a non removable battery? I'm sure that's how they get it so thin, but even though my brother's iphone 4 surprises my Dinc in battery life, his still can't make it through a whole day with heavy use. Even if it does, or you need to be out late, you have to tether to a power cord. Sometimes that's just not an option. I need to have that extra battery for just in case moments.

It's nice to see something better from MOTO come along, but I still will hold out for the Nexus.

I agree with the button comment. If it were going to RELEASE with ICS it would never have a need for cap buttons in the first place it would be on screen. Motorola has been using on screen buttons with there tablet releases running Honeycomb so the obviously they won't stick with them when it comes to ics. I have no doubt ics will come to the razr with a Motorola UI which obviously will remove on screen buttons eventually.

Engadget just reported that the RAZR will be getting ICS in early 2012.
