So I downloaded the KitKat update earlier, and then the phone shut down as it is supposed to so it could install the update. However, while installing, it gave me an animation with the android laying on its back with a big red X above it. Now my phone just keeps displaying the Motorola Logo like it is trying to turn on, but it just keeps going black and back to this screen. It has been in this loop for about 30 minutes, and I have no idea how to fix it. Any help would be thoroughly appreciated!

When you get to the droid with the big red X, try holding volume up and tap power. See if that brings up the recovery screen where you should be able to try to install again.

Found that Menu, tried the option 'apply update from sdcard' then 'reboot system now' Nothing. Still in boot loop
I was told from a Verizon chat person that a hard factory reset should fix it. Tried that, Nothing. Still in boot loop
I'm not sure what the 'apply update from ADB' option means. Think I have any hope at this point? or do I now own an expensive brick?

Worse case you end up having to wait for the FXZ and then use RSD to flash it. It should be out sometime between days and 2 weeks.

Also, I found the FXZ for 4.1.2, would it be a bad idea to flash it with this version? Would I be able to attempt the other update again at a later point?

I have A Motorola Razr HD. On Monday 5/12/2014 I received an OTA update. The update didn't work and now I cannot access my phone. When I force a soft reboot (power & volume down buttons) I get a message about "System UIDs Inconsistent" and then a bunch of pop-ups listing all the services that have stopped. No Verizion network access, no wifi, no USB, no phone SW, nothing. Just a black screen with the pop up messages.

There is critical data on the system (SD card 0) that I need to recover. I can access the Droid Triage screen. I tried to wipe the cache partition but when I reboot the phone after doing that, it tries to continue the update and fails, which throws me back to the System UID screen, etc.

I downloaded the file Blur_Version.9.30.1.XT926.Verizon.en.US.zip (which seems to be Mondays update) and tried to update from the SD card (SD 1). It begins the update but then posts the message:

"Package expects build fingerprint of Motorola/XT926_verizon/vanquish:4.1.2/9.8.1Q-94-1/57:user/release-keys or motorola/vanquish_vzw/vanquish:4.4.2/KDA20.62-10.1/10:user/release-keys; this device has motorola/vanquish_vzw/vanquish:4.4.2/KDA20.62-10/10:use"

I have a pic of the screen but cannot post it (new user restriction).

Which update file do I need (and where can I find it) to fix my phone so I can backup my data? Or is there another way to recover my phone that Verizon has bricked for me? As I said, there is critical data on the phone that I absolutely cannot lose.

Verizon and Motorola have been unable to help for the past week (though I did get a VERY helpful Verizon tech who called back repeatedly over the week to let me know they are trying to find out how to fix it but I have not heard from her in 2 days).

Someone, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, help me!

Where would I be able to find the FXZ once it is released?

I don't know what state your phone is in. Flashing 9.30.1 to it at this point could brick it. But, it's already not working so you're waiting for the new FXZ at this point anyway. You can try to follow this thread I created to see if it gets you back up and running, but, if the UNIVERSAL script fails to flash, you WILL be waiting for the new FXZ at that point as there's nothing you can do to fix it until then. If you're willing to take the risk, follow the instructions here:

Sounds like you were on 9.18.94 before the update. You're going to need the update for that version. I've uploaded it to my MF account for you. *NO ONE ELSE* should try to install this version unless you are sure you're on 9.18.94. WAYYYY too many problems have occurred from people trying to force the wrong update onto their phones doing all kinds of stupid ****. In your case, the error is clear that you need this version.

Put that on your external SDCARD and try to install it in recovery. It will install a new recovery and reboot back into recovery to finish the OTA. NOTE: If it does NOT reboot back into recovery and hangs at the M logo, manually reboot back into the new recovery. The key combo has CHANGED for this new recovery version. Hold power up, and tap power to bring up the menu. Then you can complete the OTA install by repeating it.

Hi guys,

I had the similar problem with update yesterday. After I`ve updated my locked Motorola RAZR HD MAXX Verizon version it went to the constant reboot on startup. I`ve tried to make the recovery several times by going into the boot menu. However nothing has helped. I`ve looked through some forums, but they said that device should be unlocked to flash it.
This methodd worked for me:
1) Downloaded RSD Lite v. 6.1.x and all driver staff
2) Then downloaded VRZ_XT926_9.8.1Q-94-1_CFC.xml
3) Unzipeed VRZ_XT926_9.8.1Q-94-1_CFC.xml to some folder and removed all `getvar` command calls from VRZ_XT926_9.8.1Q-94-1_CFC.xml
4) Flashed VRZ_XT926_9.8.1Q-94-1_CFC.xml with RSD
5) Booted my device, configured wi-fi and checked for updates
6) It installed the updates
7) Now I have fully updated moto with Android 4.4.2

Good luck!

Hi all...found this thread in a desperate Google search...
I just did the update today and now I'm stuck in the black screen/M loop.

Disclaimer - I'm technologically inept so much of what I read here is basically Greek...

I took the phone in to VZW today and the guy was googling for answers and said something like "most of the answers are downloading things and you don't want to do that, right?" I had no clue so I said no and he activated an old phone for me.

Can I attempt to do some of the things listed above and fix it even thought it's no longer activated? (Though I'm basically going in blind as I'm not even sure what all the above is/means!!!:-[
