RAZR HD Maxx Questions and Answers Thread

I'm having trouble turning off vibrations when you use the keyboard. I went into (Settings => Sound => Vibrate on touch) and de-selected it and it still vibrates whenever I use the keyboard to text somebody. Anyone have the same problem or a fix?

Solution: I must of blanked out because this was a real easy one. Settings => Language & Input => Motorola Input => Uncheck vibrate on key press....

That one took me a while to figure out too :P

I will say that my battery life is better than it was on my original Maxx.

I've lost my data signal 4 times in the last hour and I have to go into airplane mode to get it back. I wonder if my phone is defective or if this is normal? This wasn't happening yesterday or ever with mg original Maxx.

Edit- lost it again but this time it went into 3G shortly after. Its normal to switch because 4G is limited out here but the concern is not switching back.

Just curious, have you taken it out of Global Mode and put it to CDMA/LTE mode? WHy oh why wouldn't moto put in the ability to go straight 3G. Anyone remember the name of that app to make it some what easier to put the phone into 3G only mode?

I'm in LTE/CDMA.

And it appears to be fine now that I'm in 3G. Also, the application(s) you speak of were LTE On/Off (HTC Thunderbolt) and Phone Info.

Today is my first full day with my phone. I will be posting battery statistics later on tonight including percentage of battery left, screen on time, and talk time. The majority of my time is on 4G and 3G as it continues to switch. I will mention now that I'm on Automatic Brightness and started with 100% battery.

this phone is a sexy beast. lol

I too was wondering about how to turn off 4g.
Also does anyone know if leaving the gps radio and wifi on .. drains battery life?

It does and I never leave GPS on since I don't use it. Wi-Fi is always on as it doesn't drain too much for me and I want it to auto connect at home. Still, if any drain is bad, disable both.

I'm loving how I can talk and surf the web while on 3G.

I remember people on the M forums talking about the same issue and it was an result of importing some stuff in. My imports were only G-Mail so my stuff works fine. Sadly, the only solution given in that thread was a factory reset.

Edit- Try and download Light Flow from the Play Store and see if that will help solve your problem.

The Google Search Bar is removable but its space can't be used by anything else. Also, it has to be DISABLED thus it can't be used on any screen. You can however still use Google on your Chrome browser.

Settings < Apps < All Apps < Google Search Bar < Disable

The small blue flashing house icon means you are connected to your Verizon wireless Extender. You will see it disappear when you go outside and connect to a tower directly

A few statistics from my day and battery usage.

Battery Percentage - 28% (Discharging from 100%)
Time on Battery - 11 Hours and 40 Minutes
Screen - 58% (3 Hours and 55 Minutes)
Voice Calls - 15% (45 Minutes and 33 Seconds)
Wi-Fi - 7% (Running 11 Hours and 33 Minutes, but wasn't actually connected to a Wi-Fi network until hour number 10)
Phone Idle - 7 Hours and 38 Minutes
Tapatalk - 4%
Chrome - 3%
Android System - 3%
Cell Standby - 2%
Bluetooth - 2%

A few notes to consider is that during most of my screen on time, I was surfing the web on Google Chrome and Android Central on Tapatalk. I also spent a little bit of that time text messaging and messing with widgets and such but that wasn't for long. Approximately 97% of my screen on time would have been during internet usage of some sort. I have my brightness set to automatic and due to the bright environment, I was at a pretty high setting all day. I was on 3G most of the day but in the beginning of my day it kept losing data signal and switching between 4G LTE and 3G. That was where quite a bit of my battery drained. I do not have any applications such as Facebook, Twitter, etc. updating at any intervals. WeatherBug Elite, however, updates every 6 hours and Comcast XFINITY every hour because you can't set these to not auto-refresh so I just set them to the maximum time allowed. Overall, I'm extremely happy I chose the Maxx over the standard HD because the extra juice is always welcome. Coming from the RAZR Maxx, the HD last as long if not longer so I'm very happy. Motorola has created the elite device in the Android market and possibly cell phones in general. Superb battery life with an HD screen on an open operating system just screams awesomeness!

I actually figured out it was connecting to my network extender and thats what was flashing. Figured I would share it in case anyone else runs across it. Not sure how to post a screen shot or i would do that too. But thank you blakke39 and MrTD for your help!!!

I assume you know how to take a screenshot (Volume Down + Power) but are you trying to post it on this forum via Chrome or Tapatalk? Tapatalk would have a little camera icon the post writing screen. I'm not sure you can upload an image from the phone to Android Central through a mobile internet browser though. I know at least last time I tried it wouldn't upload.
