Whats up folks?..I currently own a VZW Samsung galaxy s3..and its fast and all..but the bugs in the device are ridiculous..Wifi..screen turning on by itself..battery life is horrible...i tried the fix and that did nothing....its going back and I will be getting a Razr Maxx..sorry the S3 has too many bugs..this is my 3rd one..

That's too bad it didn't work out. I have heard the Razr series is very good.
Good luck, in the end you need to be happy about the money you spend.

Hmmmm odd, because I always see the RAZR maxx coming in with problems on a daily basis especially after ICS update. I came from the RAZR, because of all the problems and when I started seeing customers coming in with the same problems, I went to the S3 and never looked back. I never see the S3 come in with problems, so good luck you made the wrong decision.

Sorry you have had so many issues. I have had my same SG3 since the day it arrived, July 9th, and have not had one of the issues you've mentioned...

Well, this is my first android phone, so I can't compare different models. I have experienced the screen coming on by itself. I'll feel the phone heating up in my pocket. I usually catch it before more than 10% of the battery is gone. It's annoying nonetheless.

The grass is always greener on the other side.

edit: so that my post isn't a useless comment:
1. Go into system settings==>display==>smart stay (make sure it is disabled)
2. Go into system settings==>motion==>motion activation (disable motion activation)
3. Try disabling widgets selectively to see if one of them is triggering this buggyness you speak of.
4. Review/audit your installed applications from the market. Some apps are setup automatically to prevent screen timeout, or perhaps even wake the phone up with a notification...... and it's possible the setting is in conflict with Samsungs software!

Personally, I have no issues with my phone so far. But in my experience so far, I noticed "smart stay" will detect stuff that ISN'T your face and keep the phone on. So if you hit a button that turns the phone on in your pocket, it could stay on because of smart stay's failure to work correctly. If you find that doing any of these things causes your screen turn on issues to go away or any other buggyness to go away...let us know! You will be benefitting the community by doing so. Just remember, a good smart phone needs a good smart person (and patient) to operate it and learn it. After using the GS3 for about a month now, you couldn't force me to use the RAZR.

The Razr with it's current ROM sucks IMO compared to the GS3. I had the Razr since launch and it went down hill with the ICS update.

Whats the purpose of this thread?

Anyway, I have no idea what bugs you are talking about since 1) I have had many smartphones before this... 2) Had this ever since launch and never had an issue.

I have hard time believing people go through 4 or 5 phones and none of them work like they are supposed to. I can see MAYBE low end phones, but 4 or 5 galaxy 3s? Seems extreme.

Sorry to hear you had so many problems. A good friend of mine has a Razr and absolutely loves his. As for me... I got no complaints with my S3. :)

My only complaint with the S3 is the signal strength. Yes, Samsung has been notorious for it's weak radios and the switching software between 3g and 4g. I have already replaced one sim card and it has been an improvement, but it is going downhill again. I hope that the update that is supposed to be coming out in September or October address this and fixes the problem. I want to stay with the S3, but they are making it more difficult to stay the longer it takes to get the fixes out. I've had motorola products and didn't like them, I have heard too many complaints and issues with HTC to go to them, and I am certainly not going to an iphone, without or without all the patent nonsense.

I actually went through 4 gs3 phones when it came out on Verizon. I have never went through that many before in the past. But for some reason I was having some pretty crazy battery issues. 2 gs3 phones wouldn't hold a charge for more than 15 minutes. One of them had a green line down the center of it right out of the box. I love this phone to death but I guess it just happens sometimes.

First off I didn't go through four or five... And if I'm going to spend my time hard earned money.. It will be something that's reliable and that includes battery life etc....

I must have good luck with the phones I obtain. All of my android phones so far ( I had 4 different android phone brands ) I havent had to replace any of them .Actually the last phone I had to replace after the orginal got dropped in water was the MotoQ.I never got a functional MotoQ after the original got destroyed.ha

That really sucks that you had a bad experience. I've had my S3 a month and the battery life is very good and I've had no other problems. On the bright side for you I know that the razr maxx is a great phone too. Good luck.

I know exactly what you mean! I paid straight up from the Droid Bionic and had problem after problem with data and VZW's response was to live with it until a sw update fixes the problem. Then I convinced them to let me use my upgrade for the Galaxy Nexus and holy crap... I went through 4 handsets and never got the problem resolved, (loss of data, no signal, crappy battery, and at one time the 3G radio crapped out during 3G/4G handoff). So again I'm sorry you had so many problems with the S3; but I'm glad you're happy with the Razr Maxx, it's a great phone! Enjoy :)

What a craptastic statement to make! Not every S3 that is sold will be defect free, if so we wouldn't need forums like this. Layoff the guy, if he happy with the Razr so be it. He was just relating his experience with everyone else.
