Razr or the Galaxy Nexus?

If I had to choose between the two, I would probably go with the Razr. It would be easier for me to do without the removable battery than without SD Expansion. Without SD I would feel like I have half a phone.

The lower resolution would be hard to swallow, but at least it is still Super AMOLED (and non-pentile).

I ended up going with the Rezound, though it has its own issues (it is big and bulky, and no Gorilla Glass screen and no AMOLED).

I was thinking of exchanging my nexus for the razr because of the infamous signal problems, but after being on ICS there's just no going back to Gingerbread. Just gonna hope verizon and Samsung figure it out

O and not having removable storage hasn't been a problem at all so far, I actually like using airdroid better

It would be hard for me to recommend anything but the Nexus for Verizon users right now. The phone is functionally flawless for the most part. Yes there are bugs to be sorted out, and yes there is supposedly a signal issue (which I have not experienced at all), but in truth, its like having a whole new operating system at your fingertips when using ICS. There are so many little things that you don't read about or that aren't in feature lists that make the experience so much better. The interface is incredibly clean, the phone is lightning fast and never stutters or slows, the camera is indeed a great camera regardless of what you've been reading or hearing. Five megapixels is plenty, and there is nothing BAD about the sensor, its simply just not going to replace a DSLR or high quality point in shoot. In that respect, we have come to expect way too much from our phones and the hardware within them. The display is gorgeous and is absolutely unrivaled (and I came to the realization last night that the "anti fingerprint" aspect of it is great... it resists fingerprinting and dirt very well). Honestly, I couldn't consciously recommend anything but the Nexus right now. The Razr is nowhere near on par with the Nexus in really any regard.

Any thoughts on why they used a pentile screen in the Galaxy Nexus then?

You need to remember the technology is new and companys are still building manufacturing plants and developing different ways to apply OLED technology. I believe in order to achieve the higher resolution HD screen they had to go the pentile route for now. As time goes on and they build new facilities the screen tech will catch up to the molecule tech.

At this point, that is all that is keeping me from pulling the trigger. I need a phone that can make phone calls when I need it to make calls, ya know?

im in central jersey and i have not had a dropped call yet.

eh...that is not what I am seeing on the Galaxy nexus forums.

In its defense, I dont think it has any MORE problems than the Razr or Rezound...just different ones. My main issues with the Galaxy Nexus have to do with its design, not bugs. I used a GN at the Verizon store yesterday, and it really is an awesome phone.

The interface is incredibly clean

I agree...ICS is awesome. I definitely did NOT like having the buttons as part of these screen though. This made it awkward to use at some points because they disappear sometimes (during transitions or whatever)...static buttons are always there, by contrast.

It does look really cool though. Especially on a Super AMOLED display.

the phone is lightning fast and never stutters or slows

That was not my experience. The gallery was noticeably laggier than the one on the Rezound. Not awful mind you, but enough that you could see it.

the camera is indeed a great camera regardless of what you've been reading or hearing. Five megapixels is plenty

I totally agree. But the auto-focus issue is a big deal...at least to me.

The thing is, the competitors to the GN have great cameras. The one on the Rezound is just awesome. It was much better than I expected it to be. It does well even in low light and has no focusing issues. Macro shots look as good as distance shots.

The Galaxy Nexus is definitely an awesome phone. The screen is beautiful...I thought the Pentile display would bother me, but I honestly didnt see any problems with it when I used the phone. It was a very good looking display, and looked the same as the RGB of the Razr. The pixel density is technically lower than the Rezound, but I could not tell the difference myself. I dont know if I'd call it "unrivaled"...the deep blacks of Super AMOLED are definitely drool-worthy, but it's color reproduction is not as good as the Rezound. That being said, if I had a choice, I'd rather have Super AMOLED.

The lack of SD was the main deal killer for me. I do not want to be trapped in 16 gigs for the next 2 years. The only thing the phone has that I might miss is NFC, but I doubt I would ever use it until the technology matures anyway.

Razr's screen is also pentile. Neither razr nor gnex screens are good for me I rather have the wvga super amoled plus from the galaxy s2

My coworker has a Razr and boy is it sharp. If I was on Verizon it would be a hard choice between the two.

Superamoled still has pentile but its not noticeable

So Carryme , where do you stand with this choice thus far
I am going to try the GN and see how it works for me. The main reason is how the device feels in my hand. The Razr is quite wide for my small hands and the edges are sharp. I could get a case for it, but that would make it even wider. I like the screen on the GN better, too, and my eyes aren't very good so that is important to me.

If the GN doesn't work well as a phone, then back it will go. I need to be able to make and receive phone calls as the number one priority in a phone.

I am waiting until after Christmas but before the 31st to take advantage of the double the data. I would like to get the Amazon price so I will see if they put the GN back on their site or not.

At this point, that is all that is keeping me from pulling the trigger. I need a phone that can make phone calls when I need it to make calls, ya know?

And the signal issues are supposedly confined to data, and honestly it seems more speculative than anyone giving hard proof.

I have personally used all 3 GN, Rezound, and Razr. The Razor was my least favorite of the 3. Worst screen. Most awkward in hand. I would recommend the GN with the Rezound in a close second only because of the locked boot loader. I actually prefer the Rezound hardware over the GN.

What i like about the Rezound is that when you get a phone call the world freezes and goes in reverse when the phone call is done. If thats not pimp then i dont know what is. Oh and it has beatz audio. BEATZ AUDIO!!!!
