Razr or the Galaxy Nexus?

I think you will be pretty happy with the gn. Sure, the hardware isn't as good as the razr or rezound, but its Samsung what did u guys complaining expect?
The software of the gn is amazing though. ICS is pretty darn good. It is just a more polished os than gingerbread. As far as signal issues goes, I have not experienced any drop calls at all.

The gn has the better cpu.....

What i like about the Rezound is that when you get a phone call the world freezes and goes in reverse when the phone call is done. If thats not pimp then i dont know what is. Oh and it has beatz audio. BEATZ AUDIO!!!!

Sounds pretty slick. I think its the way they marketed the phone I think they marketed it to the teens and twenty something crowd.

I am going to try the GN and see how it works for me. The main reason is how the device feels in my hand. The Razr is quite wide for my small hands and the edges are sharp. I could get a case for it, but that would make it even wider. I like the screen on the GN better, too, and my eyes aren't very good so that is important to me.

If the GN doesn't work well as a phone, then back it will go. I need to be able to make and receive phone calls as the number one priority in a phone.

I am waiting until after Christmas but before the 31st to take advantage of the double the data. I would like to get the Amazon price so I will see if they put the GN back on their site or not.

I was wondering about the screens myself. So whilst I was in a store yesterday I compared the two wondering which text was richer.
The GN has the better screen as far as the text goes.
U can just plain ole get more on it and it is very legible. Also
in the settings u can change the size of your fonts. So the viewing edge imo goes to the GN. Call reliability; better than my Charge and just a hair under the Razr. I like the build of the Razr. Gotta see how I can put up with the battery life. That edge goes to the Razr.

Personally, I chose the nexus. My wife has the razr and its a great device. But I like being on the cutting edge and using ICS gives me new features to learn and play around with. The rezound wasn't even in the running for me since I don't think I can stomach using HTC Sense again. And the Sense version of ICS is going to take away the beauty of ICS, in my opinion.

Not sure if you bought a phone yet, but go with the nexus...no question.

Camera difference, unless you're making huge posters 5MP is good, razors lack of battery sucks, and it WILL take awhile before getting ice cream sandwhich, and even longer for updates to correct bugs because they'll have to adjust for their motoblur...

Rezound has beats, but really? Good speakers or good sound is what you're going for? Its a smart phone...sounds is the last thing j care about when it comes to my smartphone... my truck, maybe that should have good sounds, but my phone has way more important things to worry about, like internet, social media, and networking....

Bottom line, like someone else said, nexus is the cutting edge of technology...its a clear choice!

Yeah, and a LOT of people use their phones for music now. At my gym pretty much 100% of people who are listening to music are doing it on a phone now. And many of THOSE are also listening to it in their cars as well.

I use the MP3 player on my phone daily. So yeah, music quality did factor into my decision. If sound is really the "last" thing you care about, I would say you are probably in the minority.

Well, on the networking side there is not a lot of good things I am hearing from Galaxy Nexus owners right now. I am hearing about severe 4G limitations and radio issues, not to mention GPS issues as well.

Can they fix this stuff eventually? Maybe. But the Rezound's radio works well right now, and from what I have heard so does the Razr's.

I agree that MPs are overrated and that 5MP is plenty. That being said, the quality on the Rezound is the best I have seen on any smartphone so far. I didn't used to care about the camera until I spent 2 years with my Droid 1. Yes, camera matters to me now.

The only thing the Galaxy Nexus has going for it is shutter speed, and from what I have heard that comes at the cost of auto-focus issues.

If it was the cutting edge of technology it would have the fastest processor. It would have SD expansion. It would have an RGB display instead of Pentile. It would have the best camera. It would have a radio and GPS with fewer connection issues than the competition.

The Galaxy Nexus is an awesome phone, but it does have it's own problems. And while I would definitely recommend it to my friends over most phones, I would not recommend it over the Rezound or the Razr.

Yeah I use it at the gym every time I go for music too, and in my car while j drive, but with all the factors of music quality Im not expecting beats audio to be a huge difference, unless the mp3 quality (actual digital file) is somehow different my other mp3s, which often vary due to bitrate levels, than i dont see how it can really he a selling point....I will admit I haven't tested it out on my own, but I have owned HTC phones and can say its definitely not worth Sense and getting updates a lot slower than the galaxy nexus.

Apparently there are defective units out there...because there are a bunch of us that seem to have units that work fine...

You tap on the screen on the thing you want to take a picture of and it focuses it, still faster than waiting for the cameras to adjust their auto focus and then take the pic! Regarding quality, again I'm not sure because I havent compared them, but considering I'm not using my camera to take pictures to send in to sports illustrated or time magazine, I'm not expecting the difference to bother me....

I get what you're saying...I was referring to ICS...when it comes to hardware, the cutting edge is always two weeks away from becoming the ex cutting edge in this industry...lol but again, some phones have been having radio and GPS issues...there's a thread in one if the forums (I forget which one) dedicated to those whose phones work fine...for them, there's no need to speak up so you never hear that their phones are working fine, but there's a bunch of us out there!

With all that being said, I am an open man with an open mind, please tell me how beats audio actually makes it sound better? And how is the rezound's pictures better in quality? I am interested in knowing...

Btw SD expansion must mostly be for rooters if I'm not mistaken...? I doubted the way the galaxy nexus internal storage would work, but its actually easier to use and seems better than an SD...

Because not all MP3 hardware is equal. Some do sound better than others.

I will admit I haven't tested it out on my own, but I have owned HTC phones and can say its definitely not worth Sense and getting updates a lot slower than the galaxy nexus.

I had a Droid, which was vanilla Andoid, and still waited forever for updates. Putting up with subpar hardware for a 2 year contract is not worth getting updates quicker for a lot of people. HTC phones have always been rootable, and if we really want the latest OS right now, thats an option.

Apparently there are defective units out there...because there are a bunch of us that seem to have units that work fine...

If the forums are any indication, the chances of getting one of those "defective units" are quite good, and it isnt like Samsung is NOT known for substandard build quality.

If those things dont matter to you, then it makes sense to get a Nexus. But the Nexus does have obvious flaws. And Camera/sound do matter to a lot of people.

The argument could also be made that the slower shutter speed of the Rezound is not that big a price to pay for better resolution and image quality.

I agree. But you are more likely to get lemons from some brands than others, and the Nexus seems to have a much higher ratio of those compared to the Razr and Rezound.

With all that being said, I am an open man with an open mind, please tell me how beats audio actually makes it sound better?
Some hardware is better than others. They are not all identical. I am not talking about the "beats audio" (which is basically just an EQ setting and a marketing gimmick)...I am talking about the actual audio hardware. It is just like buying a car stereo...you buy the same set of speakers for all the car stereos on the showroom floor and they will NOT all sound just as good.

And how is the rezound's pictures better in quality? I am interested in knowing...
Low light images are a good example. Video quality is another (not all 720p video is equal...some have a crappier frame rate or stutter, some introduce video artifacts, ect...). Some camers have better color reproduction (some will tint the image yellow or red or wash it out). Some cameras are better than others. MPs and shutter speed are not the only variables.

LOL! That sounds like something an iPhone user would say.

I have never met a single Android user in real life who thought a lack of SD expansion is a good thing. There are all kinds of reasons for this, but the main one is cost...I dont have to pay more up front. I can choose to add it later. Even most Nexus users would rather have SD expansion if given a choice.

You know, Carryme, you've seen the differences that we and others have talked about...you'll really have to go down to the store and check it out for yourself and see what matters to you...see if you see the differences in screen resolution, camera focus (play with the phone) and sound quality and go from there...you know the different aspects to try and compare...if you're a rooter, than there's no reason to explain more because I'm sure you're aware of what to do and which to get...all I can say is that galaxy Nexus is awesome if you have a working device. If you're not a rooter than learn about HTC sense and Motorola's motoblur or whatever its name is (search and find out why most people hate it) and then go and play with the phones down at the store...

Last thing for that guy I was talking about features with, Im not an iPhone person and have always had an SD card in my phones, but I was also pleasantly surprised at the ease of use without the SD on this phone...I got a 32 GB so amount is ample and its actually easier than unmount and mount options via USB cable when connected...unless you've played with it, you'll never know..

Good luck in your decision..

all I can say is that galaxy Nexus is awesome if you have a working device.

...and if the limitations do not bother you.

My main issue with it was the lack of SD expansion. There is a lot of things I liked about the phone, but that was one thing I could not get past.

It isnt really the ease of use that was the issue for me, but the lack of expansion. If you buy the 32 gig version you have to pay for it up front...and if you dont, you will regret it later on when you need the space. The advertised price is NOT for the 32 gig version.

Also, you will never have more then 32 gigs...on the other phones you can up to get 48 (16 internal + 32 external). SD also makes it real easy to migrate media to a new phone...you just take the SD from one and stick it in the new one. No need to futz with USB cable and waiting for stuff to transfer.

I played with the Galaxy Nexus at the Verizon store. And I agree it is an awesome phone. The Pentile display did not bother me at all (I expected it to...not sure if it was the resolution or what, but I didnt see any artifacts usually associated with Pentile displays).

Yes, so carryme, if 32 isn't enough gigs for you, then you can decide for another phone...even if we have this cloud storage or whatever its called with Google music, if 32 isn't enough then maybe you'll feel limited...otherwise go down there and play with the phone...

Cloud storage isnt a bad thing, but it limits you by your connection to the internet. No internet, no access to your storage. This is especially an issue if you have a phone with a spotty radio that drops network a lot. Even if the network is active, it will never be as fast as internal storage, which could be an issue with video files. And it counts towards your bandwidth limits as well.

Cloud storage for me has been more useful as a backup than as a main storage medium. And all the other phones have access to cloud storage as well...it isnt something that is really limited to the Nexus.

I got my GNex yesterday and have been playing away! Thanks everyone for your help. I am not sure if I will exchange it or not, but I am having a great time so far learning about the phone.

i had the galaxy nexus for about 4 days and traded it in for the Razr... i was so mad at the reception/data problems with samsung i got no bars at my house and while i am typing this i have 4 bars of 4G LTE on my Razr. when i went to do the exchange i even was considering just swapping out the phone at first for another nexus but even with playing with the two display models vs the razr the nexus still had slow browsing issues.

i also just didn't like the build quality of the nexus ( yeah i know i shouldn't be complaining because its a samsung ) i just expected more.

i couldn't be happier with my choice so far .... i wouldn't even have done the trade in IF the razr already had ICS on it wouldn't even look at the nexus.
