Is this the carrier or Google rolling it out? T-Mobile USA . I didn't do the steps to enable rcs but today got this. I'm also not on the beta app.

It either works or it doesn't, having to do the Activity Launcher hack means it's not. Tell me more about this Nova Launcher thing.

Mine has allowed me to turn it on twice both times kicking me out Note 8 Verizon.

Mine has been staying enabled. I'm underwhelmed by Android Messages though. You would think Google could have included some of the basic functionality that Gmail has. Verizon Messages+ has more functionality than Google Messages.

The problem is that Google has three different messaging apps; Messages, Hangouts, and Voice. Why can't it consolidate all three into one and combine the capabilities?

I just use Facebook messenger app. Then I dont have to mess with anything else. It does RCS well by default.

Does FB Messenger work with all of the other messaging apps, or only with others who also use it? My Google Messages is enabled with RCS, but none of my other contacts have it.

Good question... it works universally as a messaging client. Not sure if the enhanced features work if not communicating with others that don't use their client. My family uses it.

What is rcs? Why do I need it ? I tried to Google it but I didn't get it. Dumb down the explanation please. I'm a tad slow today. Lol
