Re: trouble with connecting a galaxy s21 to win 10 tower

I just got the Galaxy S21 + and I can't get the cell phone to talk with Win 10 Pro 64bit on the tower. Also the S21 is the only phone in the Consumer Cellular's inventory that is compatible with the Dexcom G6 app. And just for a point of interest: the S21 doesn't have a SD card slot. But I have a way around the lack of a SD card slot. I have a SD card to USB type C adapter. And the phone see, reads and writes to the SD card via the adapter. But to use the adapter I have to unplug the charge cord. Is there a SD card to USB type C adapter that will also supply power to the phone?

Are you talking about connecting the phone to the PC via USB so that you can explore the phone's storage using Windows File Explorer?

Where is the reply button to the question "Re: trouble with connecting a galaxy s21 to win 10 tower".

B. Diddy As to ur question "Are you talking about connecting the phone to the PC via USB so that you can explore the phone's storage using Windows File Explorer?" Yes I want to explore the phone's storage using Windows File Explorer and I can't get the phone to talk to Win. When I try to setup the link via the USB cable the phone is looking for a QR code that is spouse to be on the Win side of the house. The QR code isn't showing up on the Win desktop

Hello, if you use a cable between your computer and phone you should see your files

Re: trouble with connecting a galaxy s21 to win 10 tower

No the Galaxy S21 doesn't Windows with the USB cable plugged in, nor does Win sees the S21. I checked the USB cable on my old phone "a Galaxy A32" The USB cable is fine. Win sees the A32 phone via the USB cable.

Do u get a option in your pull down notification panel for usb?

So when plug into your computer does it charge?

Re: trouble with connecting a galaxy s21 to win 10 tower

OK!!!!!! Now Win is seeing and talking to the S21 phone. Don't ask me why it is now working because I don't know why. BTW the USB tethering was on. When the tethering is on Win can't see the S21.

Ok and at top of phone it says USB charging tap for more options?

Ok great
Yeah you have to choose file transfer

Re: trouble with connecting a galaxy s21 to win 10 tower

BTW I also have a USB type C connector to micro SD card reader/writer adapter. Failing to get the USB cable working. The SD card adapter would work to read/write between the phone and the tower. The tower has a built in multi type card reader

Have you tried a different USB c cable ?

Re: trouble with connecting a galaxy s21 to win 10 tower

Yes I tried a different cable, no change. What made the difference was turning off tethering. Now all I need to figure out how to move the phone contact list from the tower to the S21

You have contacts sync with your Google account?

Re: trouble with connecting a galaxy s21 to win 10 tower

The Google account sync hasn't been setup yet. How do I do the sync? I normally don't setup the sync because I don't want Gmail filling up the phone's internal memory with garbage. I hardly ever do any internet searches on my phone. Both Gateway tower and my Gateway laptop have a 1tb HDD in each one, and the tower HDD and laptop HDD are just about 1/8 full each. I have a lot more room on both to do internet search's and read Email. I am not like my God son. He is darn near glued to his cell phone. But that's a teenager for you. :D

Re: trouble with connecting a galaxy s21 to win 10 tower

Keep in mind that since Gmail uses IMAP and not POP3, it doesn't have to physically download all of your email to your phone. So the space that's used is relatively low.
