Read Only Crisis!

[Android Central Question]

Hello.

Suddenly all my Word & Excel documents on Android Apps open up as Read Only! I have only experienced this in the last day or so.

I may have ticked the wrong option somehow but it's very frustrating. I am using a Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2016)

Would welcome help for an ageing non-techie.

Welcome to Android Central! Are the documents saved to Internal Storage or the SD card?

Do you subscribe to Office 365? If so, are you sure you're logged into your Microsoft account, and that your subscription hasn't expired?

No, I haven't subscribed to Office 365.

But you were able to access the files before, even though you don't subscribe? I'm just asking, because I'm not familiar with how Word and Excel work on Android.

Thsnks again. After hours of trying to solve this problem myself, I have just discovered that this problem occurs only when I open documents through ES File Explorer.

A short while ago, I opened documents through My Files and reslised I could edit them!

Many thanks for your help. Sorry for raising a concern due to my lack of tech knowledge!
