Read to take the leap into rooting

So I've been an android user for 3-4 years now. Went from original moto droid to moto droid x to verizon gnex. Finally about to bite the bullet and take the dive into rooting so I can load JB on (since im assuming it will take 5-6 months for verizon to release it). I'm fairly tech savvy but have yet to toy around with rooting, so any tips would be greatly appreciated!
