Both phones are HTC one m8, the only difference is the carrier. T-Mo on the left in this pic, Verizon on the right.

This is why T-Mo customers use so much more data than other carriers.... because it's crazy fast

he's actually getting full bars with tmobile and 2 bars with verizon.

Which would seem to belie Verizon's reputation for universally better coverage. But then bars don't always mean much either.

This. It depends also on if the tower was upgraded for T-Mobile and Verizon's wasn't etc. Etc.

Carriers are highly area dependent. No one carrier is the best everywhere .

I have never seen Verizon go higher than 30MB Download in Honolulu . Even with full bars maybe 2-3 years ago 20-30MB tops which at the time was Wow!
However, now it is about 5-15MB maybe? At&t I seen with full bars goes about 20-50MB Download. Sprint we just got here LTE I have seen 10-12MB with 4 out of 5 bars on an SG5 so give Sprint some time to implement Spark and we'll see.
T-Mobile 4 out of 5 bars on my Z3 will still pull 70-100+ MB Download at work. I have yet been to an area that I have 3 bars or less. Mostly 4 or5 (full) bars for me.
I have Co workers that combined have all 4 major carriers. We test speeds all the time. And being smack dab in Honolulu. We all have excellent signals.

Not everywhere but it does by quantity like by area specially rural areas unlike t-mobile

T-Mobile worked great for me. Lax was great also. Rural areas on Oahu have great coverage also, I would consider my home as a rural area as I live in the last Valley on the East end of Oahu.
My speeds at home is faster or as fast as than those in the city.

Then good for you ? Verizon is still better if you live in the middle of nowhere and no way you ca dispute that ...just look at the coverage maps.

Just depends on area. Nothing for any carrier is 100 percent. So he was simply stating his experience. Responses like "good for you" during a discussion does nothing but put a bad vibe into a legit discussion. He isn't talking about every person in the middle of no where.. As that's obviously not his experience. There is nothing wrong with that.

Yup. Having one carrier faster than another carrier at a specific spot and time is not very helpful overall. Having used both, there are times when Verizon was better and times when tmobile was better. But in my usage, Verizon was better the majority of the time.

I left VZW for T-Mobile earlier this year and don't regret it. T-Mobile has actually been expanding LTE coverage into rural areas faster than any other carrier has. T-Mobile's LTE network is ridiculously fast compared to Verizon's in my experience. Just because you have a lot of coverage doesn't mean it's the best or fastest.
