So last night i read as most of you did that Google is releasing 2.3.4 which brings Google Talk video chat. I use Gtalk more than anything! My question is this, and correct me if i am wrong.

I was planning to get the Nexus S 4G once it comes out, but sitting on my couch last night with my Evo in hand I looked at it and thought.." Hey I have 2.3.3 right now, and its only a matter of DAYS before Cyanogen releases the 2.3.4 for this beast!"

So now my thing is that ..if I can get releases almost as quick as Google releases them..is it worth giving up the kickstand, the HDMI output, the 4.3 screen for something a little smaller that comes from Google directly?... What do you guys think? What would you do?

Personally, I would stick with the EVO. I understand the developer support for the Nexus, but I prefer the physical build of HTC devices over Samsung. If you use the kickstand, HDMI, etc., switching does not seem to be an ideal choice, especially with how quickly and how well developers update and improve their products.

I would hold out for a while and see what happens. If the updated version isn't released within the timeframe you are looking for, you can still get the Nexus. I would be patient and see what happens.

Just my two cents.

Wow great response! And very well put, I wonder how long the CM will develop for the Evo.

Another thing that's crazy to me is that on Craigslist the Evo goes for $200-300 yet the Mytouch4G sells for $400! I am like "what! "

The only reason for me to move to a different phone would be for better HW (dual core CPU, nVidia Tegra2 chipset, etc...). Regardless of HW I would never move to a Samsung device. My wife has the Epic 4G and it is so difficult for her to use and seems to be having problem after problem. While direct updates from Google would be nice, the EVO dev community provides access to new content almost as fast as it's released, so that really should not play into your decision to move to something new, at least it doesn't for me. I think though, that Samsung's shift in this direction will be something that other manufacturers will have to consider in order to remain competitive, especially if there is a big shift to this device for this "feature/functionality." So, this could lead to other/better manufacturers adopting the same practice of deploying devices with native Android OSs. I would hold out and see what lies in the not to distant future.

True... and I have to say I LOVE the HDMI output on this thing! By the way is your wives Sammy rooted? I am wondering if its touchwiz that's messing up on you or just Samsung I'm general ..I do have a lot of friends with Galaxy's and they ALL seem to have issues... wow now that I think about it... I just might Love my Evo more than ever now!
