Reason for Buying S20

Seems like they're aiming for less sales and wider profit margins. They know that most people besides tech enthusiast like us are opting to upgrade every 3 to 4 years instead of 1 to 2.
The title of this thread needs to be changed to...Reasons not to buy the S20..lol. Samsung has gone overboard in the prices of this. Unless between now and the release date the prices change or they can do a great trade in I'm out.

Man I thought I'll reserve the base model Ultra, now that the trade in value is $700 I went and reserved the 16/512 unlocked Ultra. RIP wallet

I would have gone with base model if it had 256 GB minimum storage. Yeah I know it has a SD card but not my cup of tea
These companies always get me ... I'm a sucker.
Did you reserve unlocked? They only had black left in 512

Yeah reserved the black unlocked, what’s up with the grey not available in 512 GB unlocked? I would have chosen that if it was an option. They can’t go out of stock when the preorders haven’t even opened

I’ll keep an eye to see if that’s an option or while preorder if it’s available I’ll do that, if not I’m fine with black as well.

There's always a possibility. No one thought the note 10 would be priced under the s10+.
I don't recall the Note 10+ being less than an S10+. If it was it wasnt by much, the ceramic S10 models were more but that's a different story.

Yeah....If I recall correctly, during preorder you can make changes.

Last time during Note 10 preorder they had a lot of accessories at the ridiculously wrong low prices but I waiting too long to complete the order and the stuff was removed from my cart. I wonder if anyone got the lower prices.

Do you guys know if the S20 unlocked version could work on verizon?
Apparently verizon won't be selling the S20 at launch date, only the S20+ and ultra (because of type of 5g network they have)
So I wonder if the unlocked version could be an alternative if you wanted to save some money.
Thank you for your time.

Well unlocked S10s and Note 10s work on Verizon so I don't think the S20 would be any different.
As far as 5G, are you saying only the Verizon model will support Verizon 5G?

The standard Galaxy S20 only supports “sub-6” 5G used by AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint in the United States.

The S20 lacks millimeter wave tech, Verizon has decided not to sell it at launch; the carrier will only offer the S20 Plus and S20 Ultra when preorders open up. But eventually, Samsung will make an S20 that’s fully optimized for Verizon’s 5G network. The carrier says that model will arrive sometime in the second quarter of this year

With that being said, I wonder if the unlocked s20 could work on Verizon's 4g network, to be honest I'm not really interested in 5g at this point, maybe once coverage get better.

Yes the unlocked S20 doesn't have the millimeter wave 5g frequencies and I believe Verizon isn't even releasing the regular S20 until Q2 when they will have one with all necessary bands. But the unlocked S20 should work just fine on the LTE and legacy network on Verizon just fine.

Only the S20+ and Ultra have all the 5G bands for all carriers.

Misunderstood, I thought you meant a non 5G version.

So I'm a bit confused. Earlier when I reserved my phone on Samsung (20+ blue 512 Verizon model) it showed a finance price of 599 vs 499 for the 128 model. but when I went back on just now and set up the same configuration it's showing a cost of 649 for the 512 and still 499 for the 128 model. So will Samsung still honor the original price quote for a reservation?

Wait.... There's a possibility of a note fold? This is what I've been waiting for, I need a note 20 fold ultra! That isnt priced at $2000! Like 1500 maybe... Maybe...

Well the rumours are of a Galaxy Fold with an S-pen coming in Q2, if it is going to be slapped with Note or Ultra or both brandings we will just have to wait and see :-)
Note Fold Ultra, 16gb Ram, 1tb storage, graphene battery, 100w fast charging, flux capacitor, IR blaster, headphone jack

Is it possible you checked off something different? As far as Samsung honoring anything, I doubt it.

As long as there is still a regular Note I'm good.

Wondering how much Samsung will give me for trade in on my 10+ for s20 ultra 128gb
