Reason for Buying S20

As I mentioned in the other post they are describing it as a 2.5D display which is not flat but not as curved as the other is before

Yeah. If Max Weinbach is to be believed, he said it's just like the Pixel 4's 2.5D glass. Which I think was pretty much the same as the S10e's display.

Ironically, the back of the S20 lineup is apparently a lot more curved than past iterations.

Wow. What type of pictures are you finding unusable? I have both the Note 10 plus and a Pixel 4 XL. While I totally agree that the Pixel has the better camera for pictures, I definitely would not say the Note pictures are unusable. Again, I think the Pixel is next level good so I do get that The Note actually seems to have improved with the updates though. Even the night site pictures are better than they were. Not pixel good, but good.

I still definitely prefer the Note over the Pixel for video. Just my opinion though.

Any picture indoors with moving subjects is unusable. If you add low light and even barely moving people, it's unusable. Also faces indoors come out horrible in challenging lighting conditions. I simply have never had any of those issues before, since Pixel 1. Most of my photos are daylight that's why I haven't junked Note 10 yet.....but lately its becoming a problem.....unfortunately Pixel 4 is a pretty bad phone in everything else.

They're really trying to hype up the announcement for the S20. I just need them to go ahead and release the phone. We already know 90% about them Screenshot_20200206-160246_Gmail.jpeg

Yes the back is more curved to make it more comfortable to hold, I'm curious to see what kind of edges the S20 front display will have

I think they should just keep that overly-curved back on the bigger models. That's what they did with the S10 5G and the Note10+. The regular Note10 and the other S10 models didn't have that. The regular S20 is comfortable enough. Maybe downright small. Wish they stuck to a nicer aesthetic with the smaller models.

Isn't that always the way? They make us so excited we can't stand it anymore; and so as soon as launch/preorder time drops, we're all ready to hit that "Buy" button!

I'm very interested in swapping out my Pixel 4 XL for an S20+, but I also am waiting on a few factors:

1) How has the camera and post processing improved?
2) Is the FPS the 2nd gen one? I'm all for having FPS back, but it's got to be consistently good. I'm talking I-don't-want-to-ever-think-about-it good.
3) Trade-in values. This will be the X-factor; it can really swing the decision one way or another. And truth is, I'm rooting for Samsung to tempt me.

So we'll see, but I feel ready to move on from the Pixel experience.

BTW, what's everyone feeling? Will you go 120Hz refresh with 1080 resolution or drop it to 60Hz for the max rez?

I'm inclined to stick to 1080 for the 120Hz. Rather spoiled by the 4XL on that front.

No question I'll be going 120hz at 1080p if I get the phone. I'd be getting the regular S20 anyway, so pixel density at 1080p is great anyway. Is it a bit crisper at the highest setting? Sure, bet just barely at smartphone screen sizes.

I tried out the Pixel 4 as well as the OnePlus 7 Pro, and like you, I was spoiled by that 90hz refresh rate. Especially on the Pixel 4 where the animations are so much nicer than they are on the OnePlus. Quite iPhone like in that regard.

For me I've always had the regular Galaxy series. This past August I opted to try the note 10+. Tho I love the phone it's unfortunately too wide for my hand to reach the left side of the screen and I don't use the spen as much as I thought I would. I'm thinking of getting the 20+ bc I think it'll be the same height but a bit smaller width wise then the note 10+ and slightly lighter. Lol I've dropped the note 10 more times then I can count then any other cellphone I've owned, Whitestone dome saved my screen like 5 times already. So yeah think I'm better with a smaller phone personally. But I'll judge in person if the 20+ will be still to big for my handling.

Thinking this time I'll get the Whitestone dome and might not bother with a case as the Ultra might be too big with a case.

Currently using a spigen case on my 10+, once in a while I take the case off and remember how nice it looks.

The back is just as delicate as the front. A case also protects the corners. I'm not a fan of bulk either but there cases that offer some protection that aren't bulky.

I'll be going 1080 even if it was at 60hz, no need for higher resolution on a phone IMHO.

As the days go by and we get more rumours and details, I actually find more reasons NOT to get one than getting one (I'm looking at highest spec Ultra ONLY) and I don't think there's any reason that it should be more than max 1200 and even that is a stretch, their sales will be slow until the price starts to drop later in the year is my guess

It's sad that smartphone manufacturers are hiking up their prices. Even if they lowered the prices by $200-300, they'd get more sales.

They're offering $600 bucks for a 4 XL, which is surprisingly high.

However, the starting prices of the S20 line is way too high. I was really hoping for the rumored $850 S20 and $950 S20+. I don't know if I can pull the trigger even with the great trade-in value...

Ugh, Samsung.

Looks like there's a Ultra without 5G
