Reason for Buying S20

I said I wasn't going to upgrade to the next Galaxy S, after getting the 1+7 Pro. But now with all the leaks of the 1+8 having a stupid hole punch as well. I might as well just get the S20 and have the extra stuff 1+ won't have, like, AOD, wireless charging, IP rating, and so on.

They are rumored to have wireless charge coming up and because they are eliminating the pop up camera... You could guess maybe they are going for IP rating. One Plus has been on a roll so I wouldn't count them out and at hundreds less I'm guessing.

Yeah, amazing they are unashamedly more expensive than the iPhones and you only get two years of OS upgrade and support. Where Apple might say one thing but keep on supporting and giving you OS upgrades for 4-5 years keeping your phone as updated as possible.

I mean as far as flagship, the S20 will probably be the best Android for top specs. But 1400 starting to Ultra?? If I had t pay full price I'd wait and see what OnePlus will bring. Too bad Huawei got neutered and can't offer a competitive Android phone.

These devices look amazing. If only I could get over them prices.

Meh, we shall see. I can always just get the 8T. lol

Support means nothing if you aren't getting the new features. iOS hasn't had a major overhaul in years(not including the iPad OS). I could care less about 3 or 4 years updates as those phones don't usually see the real stand out features. Let's also not forget this is the same company that was outted for slowing down performance on their older devices.

Seems like they're aiming for less sales and wider profit margins. They know that most people besides tech enthusiast like us are opting to upgrade every 3 to 4 years instead of 1 to 2.

I agree with you - that seems to be what they are going for.

It's about more than that. You still get some meaningful updates, and there are compatibility updates that may not be big in themselves, but make a noticeable difference (even something as simple as emoji). There's also security, remember. You can get security updates on Android for up to three years in some cases, but it's more reassuring to know you'll likely have security fixes for the entire life of a phone even if you aren't upgrading like clockwork.

And remember, Apple was slowing down performance on older devices to prevent them from spontaneously shutting down... so that people could use their devices for longer. The issue wasn't that Apple was throttling, it's that it didn't alert users or give them the chance to turn off throttling if they understood the risks. Whatever you think of Apple, it seems to be more interested in long-term satisfaction than many Android vendors.

I've always found the "not enough updates" complaint funny as well. Apple could push out (and brag about) updates every single day, as long as they remain years behind Android - especially Samsung - flagships, what's the point?

Doesn't the 512 ultra only come in black?
They can't be out if it's not actually ordered yet.
Its shows both colors choices online but Gray is marked sold out. Maybe the choice is held over from the 128. I hear what you're saying about it can't be sold out since it's not actually ordered but someone reserved another model in blue yesterday and today blue is gone for that model

Welp.... I went and did it. I just pre-ordered a Could Blue S20 from Samsung Canada. Comes with free Galaxy Buds+

Reason for buying? I'm insane. I have no reason to buy a new phone as I have a Pixel 4 and iPhone 11pro already. I'm going to give Sammy another go.

Reason for buying the regular S20 instead of S20+ or Ultra? Easy, I have small hands and prefer small form factor phones. The S10 was a bit big for me but the S20 is a couple millimeters narrower than the S10 and has a similar width to my Pixel 4. So I'm hoping I'll enjoy using the S20 more than I did the S10.

PLEASE take unboxing photos when your preorder becomes an order and then a shipment and then a delivery!

We know a lot more about the 20 series now , Refresh rate, space zoom, 8k are all extras,

The unknown am waiting for is Battery life.... Am guessing youtubers are not allowed to post any battery reviews until the phone is out.
