Reason for Rooting?

I'm new to the android world so don't get upset people..but what is the reason for rooting the droid incredible?

Rooting can do a lot of things. I would suggest going to the ROMs/Hacks section of the Incredible forum. There are a couple of people asking the same question there. You can also check the general Hacking section on the main Android Central Forum page. And you can also check other forums because there are a lot of threads talking about it on other forums, such as Android Forums. I was in the same boat you were a few weeks ago.

It give you a bunch of stuff......install custom ROMS, overclock, underclock, undervolted kernals, wireless tethering, backup capabilities......you know geek stuff!

If you have everything you need now you don't need to root it. If you like to use and abuse your phone and push it you want to root.
