Received 7 defective Nexus 7's and Google is now refusing RMA's

What he said. Also, it might be useful for companies to receive poor feedback on the internet so they know that people aren't complacent with the mediocrity that is passed off on the consumer for their hard earned money. May prevent the customer's eventual disappointment just before being sold the next broken product before the dust settles. Tablets aren't Bic lighters. Not working isn't okay and they're not disposable.

Hope you guys don't take this the wrong way, but you really bring a negative tone to these forums. You really make it unenjoyable to participate in any thread you are involved in. Why be like that? What do you have to gain? If you have nothing constructive to add, please move on so the rest of us do not have to read your trash.

Whatever dude. I, for one, take it as a personal assault when my Bic doesn't work. I said Bic people...... jeeesh

Be unrealistic somewhere else huh? Haha, perhaps it is the person who doesn't read the growing forums filled with complaints about the Nexus 7's build quality who is being unrealistic or just ignoring reality. You claim I am unable to be pleased, in spite of my post that I found a working one to my satisfaction, so if you missed that, maybe you missed all the posts about the the Nexus 7's terrible build quality and lack of quality assurance.

I won't be buying a Tab 2, since it doesn't have the power of the Nexus 7 and also updates will take forever. I was neither stubborn or sick, but determined to get what was advertised without defects. I'm not sure if you have a Nexus 7 or not, but again, when a product is flawed, it's the manufacturers burden of rectifying it. Perhaps if more people exercised their right as a consumer to send broken products back to apathetic companies, they wouldn't ship broken in the box products so often.

My apologies if you took my post as being unsympathetic to your experience with your tablet. I've gone through multiple exchanges on all my phones and have even forced my dealership to exchange my M3 two times without invoking the lemon law. In no way was I suggesting that you or anyone else should settle for a product with which you are unsatisfied. I was commenting more on Google's refusal to issue a RMA.

Having said that, I see nothing wrong with someone stating that they personally would have given up on the product long before the 7th exchange. In fact, I think most people would have thrown in the towel after a couple of attempts and demanded a refund. You are certainly to be commended for your loyalty and perseverance. And I believe Google is to be commended for their attempts to rectify the situation. Yes, they refused to do any further exchanges but I consider 7 exchanges an honest good faith attempt. Anyone with any realistic experience in business, or with life in general, understands you can't please all the people all the time.

In the end, I'm glad you were finally able to get one that meets your expectations. May it be that much more enjoyable knowing the arduous journey you traveled to get here, not the least of which is this thread.

I don't know if you're just being disingenuous in an attempt to make a point, but if your enjoyment of the forums is truly hindered by anonymous users posting their opinions, which you perceive to be "trash", perhaps it's time to take a step back from the keyboard for awhile? Please don't take this the wrong way as it is just a suggestion based on assumptions.

Thank for the suggestion, but not needed. By the way, note who "liked" your post, and the posts I quoted. The usual suspects that really have nothing of value to post. I call the posts I quoted "trash" because they hold no value to this thread either. Do you think they do? Take a look at what they say. Note some of the word and phrases I bolded below. I shouldn't have to weed through that stuff just to get to valid points on this thread. It's a total waste. Come on dude, you've been a member on here for a while. You know the kind of posts that I am talking about and the people who post them.

They aren't even opinions. I have no problem with people who express their thoughts and feelings on on stuff; it's what makes this forum interesting. It's just immature, name calling and adds nothing to this thread or the site. Show me something intelligent in the posts below. Or something that really add anything interesting, or of value to this thread.

You're lucky that Google gave you 7 chances. I would have laughed in your face after 3 exchanges and I would have told you to go be unrealistic somewhere else because you are obviously impossible to please.

7 times! are you out of your mind? With that kind of patience you're either extremely stubborn or sick. If i were you i would request my money back on the second try and visit local store that sells those or buy another tablet.. Tab 2 for example

Reminds me of a time I was walking a trade show and saw a vendor telling a customer, "do me a favor, don't buy from us anymore!".

@g1.....I dont know Nick personally but as far as him being disingenuous, I can say from his posts that he's not. I clearly understand where he's coming from and anyone whose been a member for any length of time should understand it too.

There are some members who NEVER add value to any of the threads they participate in. It feels like it's their mission to either bring the thread down or rip the OP a new one. At the end of the day, after spewing all they had to say, they still said nothing worthwhile.

Quite frankly I get tired of reading that sort of drivel. It added nothing constructive to the thread.....period. Sad fact is those who are honestly interested in the thread have to read thru all that other "trash" before it gets back on topic.

That's basically what I was trying to say, and perhaps it came out wrong. This is a great site, and the forums have some really good people and moderators. The nice thing about a forum is all the diverse opinions from people around the globe. And this site is very active, so you get a lot of bogus/meaningless posts in each thread. Especially behind the anonymity of the Internet. It just seems like lately it's been more than usual, and it would be nice if it would stop.

As you said, there's a lot of anonymity on the internet so these type of meaningless post stopping probably wont ever happen.
Personally, I applaud the OP for his diligence and the fact he was brave enough to post this in the first place. Doing so definitely left him open to unwarranted attacks and criticism but none of that changed the fact that he's among many who've rec'd multiple defective units.

Sure others would've washed their hands much earlier but he didnt and now has a unit he's happy with. I dont think anyone here can say what he likes or doesnt like and also no one here can say this isn't the device for him. As I said before, if other people can enjoy their N7's, why cant he?

His post should be an eye opener that just because a Google decided to market their device as "a highly specced cheaper alternative" doesn't mean it should have the build quality of something a 2 yr old put together. If we wouldn't accept that from any other company why should Google be let off the hook?

Geez after reading all this I'm gonna buy the tf101 I found at toys r us for 239.99. I was debating between the two because the 101 has a bigger screen and sd slot buy after all this I'm just gonna go with it. In addition to this thread I've seen others with lots of screen lift problems. Just a shame because it has such good stuff under the hood. Just goes to show ya no matter how sweet the engine is if the car won't hold together its all for not.

Yep, that's what I would do, because you know that everything you read on the internet is the truth!!!!!:):)

If you really want to try the N7, go get one at Walmart. You have 15 days to return it! Remember, more people use forums to complain than praise. And complaints are like spilled oil....doesn't take a lot to look like a real big mess.

Whatever you decide, good luck to you!

Of course I'm not that naive but if there are multiple people complaining about the same defect it may just be a real problem.

This is great advice and what I recommend to my clients and colleagues who ask me about a Nexus 7. Wal-Mart (and most others now) have such an easy return policy now a days that's it's just easier to pick one up locally rather than order online and mess with shipping and RMA's.

Ordered a 16 gig Nexus 7 from Google Play. It was delivered but screen totally inoperable. I returned it but Google, after 10 days and numerous phone calls, tells me they have NO IDEA of timeline for replacement. I asked to cancel order and have credit card credited and was told that was impossible. CSR wouldn't disclose in what state he was doing business.
Supervisor finally agreed to cancel order and refund money.
What a waste of my time and effort.
I'd rather use a mud tablet and sharp stick!
Thanks Google!

what exactly do you mean by inoperable? touch issue or screen dark?

I'm going to take a shot in the dark, but that member just joined, and has 1 post trashing Google and the N7. So either he's an Apple fan, or he just needed to vent about his experience with the N7.

Or maybe he Googled his issue and came upon this forum. Judging based on post count is not fair cause everyone of us here started with a first post.

This is true. That's how I discovered the forum.

I agree with you guys. Post count doesn't matter. But a post like that is not really the way you want to introduce yourself to the community. I don't remember my first post, but I'm pretty sure it was flaming Google or a manufacture.
