Received 7 defective Nexus 7's and Google is now refusing RMA's

I agree with you guys. Post count doesn't matter. But a post like that is not really the way you want to introduce yourself to the community. I don't remember my first post, but I'm pretty sure it was flaming Google or a manufacture.

True enough but if his story is legit you've gotta understand his frustration.

As you said, there's a lot of anonymity on the internet so these type of meaningless post stopping probably wont ever happen.
Personally, I applaud the OP for his diligence and the fact he was brave enough to post this in the first place. Doing so definitely left him open to unwarranted attacks and criticism but none of that changed the fact that he's among many who've rec'd multiple defective units.

Sure others would've washed their hands much earlier but he didnt and now has a unit he's happy with. I dont think anyone here can say what he likes or doesnt like and also no one here can say this isn't the device for him. As I said before, if other people can enjoy their N7's, why cant he?

His post should be an eye opener that just because a Google decided to market their device as "a highly specced cheaper alternative" doesn't mean it should have the build quality of something a 2 yr old put together. If we wouldn't accept that from any other company why should Google be let off the hook?

Well said. :)

Glad to see the negative nancy's are still lurking in this thread. Update: My tablet caught fire...pictures to follow. Kidding. It's still working fine. However, it's been 10 days since Google has received my tablets and still haven't issued a refund. I was just going to wait it out, but received an email today saying that it's been 21 days since they issued my replacement and I will be charged for it, if it is not sent back immediately. So, I called and they told me that email was sent out to everyone who had an RMA and is increasing their call volume tremendously. So, if you received that email, don't freak out...it's an emailing issue. Also, they said that they coded my returned tablet incorrectly as a replacement and that was what has been holding up my refund. I said that is pretty ironic since they banned me as a customer that my returned unit was set for an exchange. They told me that I'm not banned and can still purchase from the Play Store, but were vague about what would happen if I had to make a return. Sort of moot, considering I won't buy from them again.

Oh, sorry guess that came across like a jerk, I meant the people flaming and trolling and posting nonsense comments. Hah, everybody here who has been disappointed or burned by Google is a brother or sister in arms. :)

Ok gotcha. Yeah I have seen some outlandish things like having upwards of 20 defective units. But there are some problems that have been pretty common for a lot of people. And things I wouldn't just live with like the screen lift or dead pixels.

I absolutely agree. I remember a buddy of mine traded out a few PSPs because of dead pixels. Unfortunately, if you read the fine print in the majority of warranties, they say that up to 3 or 5 dead pixels are acceptable and not covered. I'm glad someone else agrees, not even one is acceptable. :)

And the screen lift deal is a major problem. The screen will only take flexing so many times until CRACK. I think the concept of this little device is spectacular but obviously the quality control is way sub par. I really hope they do get it worked out because I would love to own one.

last time I checked I have never flexed my n7

Hmm well if you press down on a raised screen and it makes a creaking sound exactly what do you think is happening?

Sent from my EVO using Android Central Forums

Not only just pressing down, but flex in the screen will affect the screen sensitivity and also could eventually crack if just set down too hard and the area of the screen with too much load upon it will split under the impact. The undue stress of screen lift falls under the bad things list. :)

my two screens aren't raised at all. next question

No one asked you a question in the first place.

There are many reports of screens cracking due to the screen lift issue. That's why it's so hard to just "live with it" like some say. Even in a case, there is still a risk of cracking.

I think that most people understand what you are saying. ;)

Dave, you remember this type of thing in the BB Playbook forum? Have gone through (enter ridiculous number here) of Playbooks and they're all defective. And RIM won't give me any more RMA's!!!

Ho hum...

Actually, no I don't remember it (I've slept since then. :) ) but I know that's the type of thing that always shows up in a forum about hardware. There are always some folks who are...how shall I phrase this...exceptionally anal, and PERSISTENT--far beyond the normal bounds of a typical consumer (thank god). You can see the persistence of such folks simply by reading their LENGTHY and argumentative posts that go on day after day after day after day...you get the idea. It seems to me they are under the illusion that if they keep repeating themselves, everyone else will suddenly agree with their contrary position. (I feel dirty for being in this thread, but thought I'd respond to your comment about the Playbook, and I couldn't shut off the flow of words). My apologies to anyone who doesn't like my posts, but then again, the "ignore" feature is a useful tool of the forum. :)

Hope you guys don't take this the wrong way, but you really bring a negative tone to these forums. You really make it unenjoyable to participate in any thread you are involved in. Why be like that? What do you have to gain? If you have nothing constructive to add, please move on so the rest of us do not have to read your trash.

Yeah since your post was so positive.

I certainly remember that. I must be lucky with electronics because I usually never have issues (PlayBook was no exception). But the number of issues being reported on this (and other) forums outnumber PlayBook issues. This just made me miss my PlayBook; time to go charge it up.

How can my post be positive when I'm calling out negative posters? I tried to be as nice as possible indicating my displeasure with members who post nonsense in this (and other) threads. And please read the last line of my post that you replied to.

C'mon boys.. keep it civil here :)

If we have nothing to contribute we don't need to say anything, nor even read the thread, right?

:) well...the whole premise of the thread is that it's either OK to demand countless replacements for "defects", or it's better to just move on to another product. Sort of like the chasm between liberal dems and conservative Republicans...never the twain shall meet. Just like politics, such discussions bring out the worst in us. (the thread could always be closed--it's not too late, is it??)
