Received G5. Battery looks to be pretty bad

Android Police, Droid Life, and GSM Arena have all said the battery life on the G5 is pretty bad, with only 2.5 to 3 hours SoT on a charge. At that price point, you're better off getting the S7 edge.

I'm not getting the horrible things I'm reading about this phone!! I just got mine yesterday... and was fearful to open it, after reading so much negativity on the forums.

My phone is in outstanding condition... Titan sprint... Slot is perfectly aligned... No dings or dents.... and inspite of me trying to kill the battery on the factory charge that it came with I had 3.5 screen on time with constant searching, downloading, ect.

It took 1hr 15 mins to take a full charge... but I kept looking at it every ten seconds to see if how quickly it was charging. I'm sure it will do a full charge in an hour if left alone.

On my first full charge. I have 9 1/2 hours so far... I did sleep a little in between... but had heavy use before, and constant heavy use since I've been up. My screen on time is approaching 4 hours... which includes downloading antutu and geek bench 3... Running both twice. You tube Videos... Im on sprint lte... No wifi. I mean pretty much everything I could do to with the phone I'm doing... and I still have to TRY to kill the battery. Once the initial newness of the phone wears off, I don't see how anyone will have a hard time getting through the day on a single charge. I think it will smash the s7 in battery(my wife has s6 edge), and fall somewhere between s7 and s7 edge on battery life. Not to mention all of us that ore ordered... have a spare battery just waiting to be plugged in!?!? I think the only people that will need that are gamers. I have yet to try and wound the battery with some gaming.

To each their own.. always... but so far, I'm very happy to not be seeing all the things I've seen mentioned in reviews and the forums with my own handset!!!! Whhhhhheeeewwww!!!

I can only imagine how much better the battery life will become as the phone learns my habits and the battery gets a few cycles run through it!!!!!

I came home to my G5.

6:00 PM battery life started at 49% when I first powered it up
6:57 PM battery life is now at 30%

I have had it on quite a bit to install apps and configure accounts etc.

That's pretty horrible. Anyone else receive theirs and are seeing horrible battery life?

Haha so your basing battery on setup battery life from 50% with no charge while tons of apps are syncing and ylyoi are downloading and installing apps and accounts.

Give it time to download all your emails and sync account and day after to get any idea of what it will really be.

I'm now over 5.5hrs SOT working on 6 hours... This is on my very first charge with pretty intense usage!!!

I'll attach some pics just for the doubters. I can't fit the entire battery drain into one pic... but you can see almost 6 hrs continuous usage in one pic alone.

Not to mention I zapped 20% in the first hour of usage by downloading and running geek bench 3, antutu, ect.

I think you guys give LG too much credit.
How many phones have any of you received and have drained it while setting it up?

At 8:11 it was 15% so I threw it on the charger.
In 15 minutes it was 50%.
In 30 minutes it was 73%.
In 1 hour it was 95

The phone was on at this time.

This doesn't happen to just LG. Read Samsung and HTC posts about initial setup. It drains faster the first few cycles.

I'm so unbelievably stoked!!! This is why I skipped g3 and g4

Pic 4 total screen on time of 6hrs 19 mins. This was after running antutu... Geek bench 3.. Twice right off of charge... Which is why you see I zapped nearly 20% fairly quick. I went to sleep with always on display on(it sleeps too if it's in your pocket or the phone is face down)... I woke up early and stayed on it pretty much non stop until I killed it. I didn't do any gaming... but plenty of downloading, you tubing, surfing on data, ect. I do have my finger print scanner off... as I love knock on and prefer no lock screen with a double tap to wake or sleep.

Auto brightness on the display is vastly improved... it response almost immediately... Dimming slowly so it isn't as noticeable. It will also go to zero in a dim lit room as well as full blast when outside. I'm in Florida... the screen on time probably contains atleast 1-2 hours without exaggeration, of outside full blast screen on action!!!

I am hyper critical... especially with all the reviews and bad things I've seen. Yet, I cannot fault my handset. This battery life on just the first charge with so much heavy use... has me extremely impressed and super super happy I turned down the $1 g4 and waited for this one!!!

Oh and early buyers will have two of these 2800mah batteries vs one 3600 edge!!!! Looooving it!!!!!!

Wow! That's amazing. Nice to see some positive screen shots after all the negativity that's been posted.

Thought about having my GF Jump from the G4 to the G5 to get all the freebies but wasn't that impressed with what I was reading about the phone.

I liked the g4 when I had it, it just seemed slow.. A little glitchy, and I couldn't stretch battery out no matter how hard I tried.

If youre still considering it, go for it!! You can always return it!!! I thiiiiink you may be end up being a bit upset you didn't use the jump for your own line!!!!!! Lol!!

Well, I have a V10 and there's no way I'm giving it up for the G5. LG lost my consideration on that when they made a smaller screen and moved the buttons to the side.

We stopped by T-Mobile today and looked at it. They didn't have a working display to mess around with unfortunately.

Have to make a decision by Tuesday. It's either get it with the free 360 camera and battery/cradle, or wait 4 months for the inevitable LG price plummet. Of course by then other phones will be out with more coming down the pipe.

I'm down to 43% on second charge... 5 hrs SOT!!!!... 10hrs total time off charge. Should definitely hit 8hrs on this drain!!!! Lots of Spotify simultaneously streaming in the background this time.... but no benchmarks.
