Received G5. Battery looks to be pretty bad

Maybe the always on display is being counted in that screen "on" time because that's a little absurd for any phone honestly especially with that small of a battery(2800mah) and after the whole plastic bodygate fiasco lol..I wouldn't put that "trick" pass them..I have s7 edge with what id consider good batt with bout 6 and a half hours SoT with 2 days on battery from full charge and AOD on the whole time..maybe Your G5 is a unicorn or something..

The always on display can't count because then the SOT would match the total up time, or be much closer.

There is no magic... no unicorns... Just real life usage and a real life 9hrs SOT!!!! Im sorry the edge isn't giving the same results..

I was torn up on whether to pre order the galaxy or wait for g5. It was a hard choice to wait. But seeing the SOT has made me extremely happy I chose to wait!!

5.5-6 hrs of SOT is still better than I got off of g4 or Galaxy s6 edge. So your s7 edged is definitely no slouch!!! But I do feel your pain on seeing this results on a much smaller capacity power supply. I really really think it has to do with g5 having li ion supply vs li po of the galaxy series.

It doesn't matter how many screen shots you post, some people will just never believe it. I had the same issue when I was posting screen shots of my G4 getting 6+hours SOT and my V10 getting 6+ hours SOT. Some people just won't believe it unless they can duplicate it.

Best thing I can tell you is to just enjoy your phone and not worry about if people don't believe you.

So we've confirmed that the battery lasts a while when you're not doing anything other than keeping the screen lit up.

Screen on time is a completely useless metric for anything other than determining how long the screen has been on.

By itself yes it's totally useless. Which is why it's always best when users explain a little more about their usage like how long on wi-fi or LTE, how much gaming, video watching, social media, phone calls etc...

I'm clearly not "trying" to conserve battery... yet I'm over 3 hrs SOT already at just under 65% discharge... At this rate.. the math is showing a strong 8.. possibly 9hrs of SOT.

I don't know about the s7/7edge... Bit I have first hand experience with g2/g3/g4... S/4/6/6edge.... I challenge anyone who owns those devices to show me the same info I've provided... I mean if it's so easy to see these kinds of SOT!!! Lol!!!

G5 has made dramatic improvements on g4 battery life... Period. Smaller or not, it is the best battery life I personally have ever seen on a handset I've owned. I can not wait for some serious pro reviews to come out and repeat these words!!!

Now I REALLY question you, as it seems that you are super duper pro LG and are rooting against Samsung. It's your right but I'm not sure it makes you reliable to provide us some good and accurate battery stats. And the S7 edge and S7 get better battery life than hat you posted. Don't believe me check the threads with the "screen on time" title. And go easy on the exclamation marks please lol

Bro this is exactly what I have been thinking, that the always on display may be counting towards the screen on time.

So the AOD only counts for SOT for him because he is getting great battery life? Or the AOD also counted in the reviews that were getting 4 hours SOT as well? Don't you think the reviewers would have noticed that since that's what they do for a living?

No the AOD for screen on time does not only count for him.

But you need to understand something. He is the only one that gets 8-9 hours of screen on time. Not one reviewer, not one other user. How is that possible? Is it really unreasonable for us to question his usage? I don't think so.

Just for the sake of giving you an example, I have the S7 Exynos. Many users, including myself, are getting outstanding battery life. Like minimum 6 hours of screen on time and maximum 7 1/2 hours. For the edge exynos 8-9 hours possibly 10 but that is pushing it. So there's a trend, a pattern as we can see that there's a certain range. For the G5, reviews gave it an average battery score, some get 3 hours of screen on time and some could possibly hit 6. But 8-9 hours???? That's not normal. Either the user is doing something that we don't know or else. That's just rational and logical to think like that.

Others will be coming in with similar battery life and SOT. I'm just the first one to do so...

Pro reviews were with international banded handsets... it would only make sense battery life would be affected... Which is why almost every reviewer stated they would wait for the production handset to make final conclusions.

For now, I seem the crazy one.... I'll accept that, and enjoy my amazing battery life in the meantime... while we wait for others to confirm what I've been staying all along.

I don't think everyone will see 8-9 hours many like to do gaming, maybe download torrents, ect. It's definitely possible to kill the battery faster.

What I am trying to represent is what a normal day of what I consider to be... heavy use(doing something on the phone non stop for countless hours without setting it down).

Under normal use... I don't think people will have the time to be on their handset for 7-8-9 hrs a day. Whi

I understand your feelings.. but you should also understand that I have provided proof of my statements. It's rather insulting for people to not believe the facts... Just because they can not understand why!?!?

I don't understand the why?.. Or how of it either!?! But my results are real!!! I'm 37 years old, own my own business, live in Miami... I have a life I can assure you!!(sorry for the exclamations... I'm always very hyper so its just my way of expressing myself!... never meant to be smart or be rude in anyway)

I simply happen to have received a new handset on a weekend that I've had time to do some testing and have taken the time to post my results.

I'm confident more and more posts of outstanding battery life will come to be. I'll also say that if the galaxy s7 edge is really in the 6-7-8hr SOT range... LG is going to steal the show for battery life between the two!!! Remember, the second battery will double whatever the official results end up being!!!

Thanks for the help tourbound!! I should have known I would stir it all up with my posts!

It is what it is... as astonishing as it may be... this little 2800mah lower supply is a beast in this G5... I don't know how it why... but it is!!!

I'll make this my last post, as no to stir up anymore drama!!

I sure hope in time, others will see... good ol BBsuuuuucks wasn't trying to get over on anyone!!!

Oh, I understand very well. This isn't my first time on the internet. And I never said his SOT couldn't be questioned. However, he has provided more than adequate screen shots and posts to explain his usage. He can't do anything more unless someone wants to fly to his house and watch him use his phone all day to verify.

I'll fly to his house and check. And this is probably your second time on the Internet. You should cut down on the sarcasm, it's unhealthy and doesn't make you look smarter.

Yes he has provided the screenshots. But I'm still skeptical and rightfully so. Because his battery stats, again, seem to be way out of the norm. But if he is happy then more power to him, personally I'm not relying on his stats. I'll wait and hear from more users.

Actually sarcasm is quite healthy because it makes me laugh and it's proven that laughing is healthy.

I'm sure he is happy with his phone and I told him to just enjoy it in a previous post.

More power to you. I was taught that sarcasm is a tool for the weak, a sign of weakness.

This is a fair stance to take... no reason at all to take just my word for it. Just please don't assume I'm full of it, just because it's not easy to believe!!!

I only mean to help those that may be in the fence and still deciding on what to do. I know for sure I'm a specs guy... so when I read 3600 mah on galaxy s7 edge... The bigger size alone made me want to grab it.

Especially with LG downsizing the battery 200 mah. However, we have to believe that if LG actually had the gumption to take Sammy head on at MWC this year... it wasn't because they thought they could fool a ton of users into getting their handsets.

Word on the net travels quickly... as we all have seen in the last few days. It's my personal opinion that LG knew they had created a beast of a phone this time around... that's why they weren't afraid to show up on the 21st this year!!!

They're marketing is weak at best for sure.... but they are innovative and not afraid to take risks. Taking all this into consideration helps me to believe LG G5 will be the next LG G2... 2-3 years from now people will still be wondering why they are supposed to upgrade!? Same as I have been with the G2!

Please no drama guys!! .. everyone is entitled to their own opinion!!! Just because we don't agree... doesn't make us enemies!!!! We are all technology addicts here.. same team!!! Saaaaaame team!!!!

Oh, so now you have resorted to personally attacking me and calling me weak? Got it.
Nope, I'm dead serious. Because it's cheap, not intellectual and pretty much anyone can use it to appear to look smarter or to win an argument. Again I swear I'm not kidding. But I'll leave it at that and apologies if I offended you.

Offended by someone on the internet? That's hilarious.

Do you think a back handed apology that you only issued after I called you out for attacking me actually carries any weight?
