On occasion I'll futz around with my phone to see what's possible. Over this past weekend, I converted my physical SIM to an eSIM. (S21U, unlocked, Tmo service) All seemed well. However, Monday and Tuesday, while doing my normal driving around North Texas, my service was a very poor 3G, H+, E, etc. Rarely did I get 5G or LTE. That type of service does NOT work for me in my day.
Yesterday morning, called Tmo and had them turn my physical SIM back on. After the obligatory 15 minute provisioning, I was back online and yesterday's running around confirmed that the service via the physical SIM was far superior to the eSIM. I don't know if it's a firmware issue, or what? Just sharing my experience over here. Regardless, the eSIM is not quite fully-baked (in my limited experience). YMMV
