Reception Issues - Not Again!

Sorry that you are having problems. It unfortunately happens to every carrier. I still think that overall, Verizon provides the best network coverage, but of course this is dependent on a variety of factors.
Thanks...I'll see if the SIM card helps, because right now and for the past 6 hours, I've only been able to get through because my phone is on Wifi - which defeats the purpose of data plan with VZW.

Yes... with the extended battery I connect with lte/cdma and it stays on 4G all day. With lte off, I have been getting the intermittent 1x. But reception and stability has been excellent with 4G even in extended areas.

Sent from my HTC Rezound.

Wait everyone! When you are in a fringe 4G LTE area, speeds can creep to a crawl. These new phone are still not able to handle 3g/4g switching as good as it will be in the future. So, unfortunately, until there is a stronger 4g signal at your work your phone will act like it can't get a signal at all! It is having trouble hanging on to 4G LTE signal and deciding when to switch to 3g/1x etc. the way to get around this is to force the phone into CDMA ONLY as someone has previously described in this thread. I have experienced this and let me tell ya, it ain't your SIM Card. MARK MY WORDS! if you get a new one , it will not change. try this and you will be ok. Menu>Settings>Wireless& Networks>Mobile Networks>Network Mode>Choose CDMA ONLY All will be ok and you will get better 4g LTE signal eventually, like so many others are waiting.:)

Sorry that you are having connection problems. The only time I have experienced any problems with data is when Verizon is having problems with the network. I pretty much always stay connected to 4g and really love this phone.

+1....I read the link and it's kind of funny. Those people are blaming HTC and think an update is the answer. It's got nothing to do w/ HTC and their device. These connectivity issues are Big Reds network. Yes Big Red has the best coverage and LTE service in the game but I think people forget that 4g is still in it's infancy and is still, very much a work in progress. It's great reward has pitfalls that will be ironed out over time. I think the fact Verizon jumped on LTE before it was tested heavily in many markets plays a role since they've had recent spikes in 4g subscribers. Just b/c it's up and working doesn't mean LTE was ready for the primetime exposure that would follow. Until recent months, I never had any issues on their network. Speculative rationale makes me chalk disruptions up to burdens like overflow and maintenance.

I do think that my SIM card must be okay, because when I left work, my reception came back. However, compared with yesterday, my 4G is noticeably slower today. Is it usually this unsteady? I've gone from 30DL yesterday to 13DL today - at the same location.

Very disappointed with the reception at work, though - it was one of the main reasons I switched to VZW.

I had the same problem with my Thunderbolt, which is why I now have the Rezound. I tried everything with no success until I got the Rezound which fixed my problem. If you are losing your connection entirely at work and others aren't I'd change out the phone before your 14 days is up. You can try a new SIM, but it did nothing for my problem with the Thunderbolt. If Verizon wants you to try a new SIM before giving you a new phone and you have enough time before your 14 day trial period expires, I'd try the new SIM for a day just so you can say you tried it. If it works great and if it doesn't, at least you ruled it out. If you are so close to your return deadline that you don't have time to try a new SIM, insist on a new phone before the 14 days is up. Don't waste too much time because if getting a new Rezound doesn't fix the problem, you'll still have time to try a different phone. I'm not sure what that would be since the Rezound has the best reputation for a strong network connection of any of the new phones out right now.

The speed problem can be the type of coverage area you're in. I get a good 4G connection at home and work, but I work in an extended service area. Even though I have a good 4G connection at both home and work, my download speed at home is usually 13,000 to 15,000kbps, but at work it's about half that and sometimes less. I'd love to get DL's in the 20's and 30's either place.

Good luck

There are just so many factors in 4g speed right now. I think that the more signal you have, the faster your speed should be. Its also has to do with the amount of users in the area on the same tower etc. And the other factor i think that plays a large part is what we have talked about before: Network is still in it's infancy. hiccups are gonna happen. Still sucks that you are in a fringe 4G area at work though. Hey, don't fret, and join the 4G waiting club. Your day will come! This is a GREAT Phone!:)

Actually, I'm in a 4G network area at work. If I climb a few floors up in the building, I get the 4G back, but it's still less bars than at home. However, reception was again less last night than the previous.

Also, the Verizon tech said to me that they don't "guarantee" service inside buildings, only outdoors. WTH? Last time I checked, the majority of us live/work indoors. *smh*

Inside buildings really depends, especially if you work in a concrete building which weakens the signal depending on where you are in the building. If you have weak 4GLTE signal, try to force it to 3g only to see if you are still getting signal loss.

HollyDay, maybe the areas you live and work in have signal issues?

They didn't with my 2 years old phone. Besides, shouldn't I see an improvement on Verizon vs Sprint? Because, at work - signal-wise - I don't.

Even on cdma only mode, you don't notice an improvement?

First, how do I put it into CDMA only mode? And, I thought it automatically switches if it can't get a 4G signal? But regardless, I was getting "No Service" and an "X" most of the day yesterday, unless I was connected to Wifi.

Secondly, I'm not in the office today and my reception at home is fine, but compared with 3 days ago, still lower (by 10Mbps) on 4G.

Not necessarily. If you are in a 4G LTE it is completely different than Sprints wimax.

It is supposed to switch automatically but many of the VZW 4G LTE phones have had issues with switching between 3G and 4G LTE. Personally since so many of the phones have had that issue I don't think it is the phone it is an issue on Vzw's end.

Mine did switch, from 4G > 3G > 1X > No Service.
