I'm not sure how many people are having this issue but the power button on my HTC One is extremely low and does not protrude from the metal that much. There is a clicking noise when I press down but it is only of the left side of the power button. This worries me because I'm not sure how long the button will continue to work. Has anyone else had this issue? If so what have you done to correct it or get past it and have you contacted HTC about it either? Please comment on your thoughts or what HTC said. Thank you!

I have had my HTC One for about 2-3 months now and I have had zero issues with the power button! Knock on wood! Have you called HTC? Are you out of your 30 day return policy? Either way HTC should fix it for free.

I have not, I will most likely call them. The button works fine but I have to hit the left side because the right side is completely level with the metal and does not click or turn the phone on.

This got me thinking about the power button on my phone. Considering that we press this button constantly whether it be to wake the phone up, power down, etc., how long will this button last? Constant use of the button will only lead to wear and tear in my eyes. Guess that is why they offer insurance...

Exactly my thought as well. I had an S3 that had a similar issue and Samsung was extremely understand and sent a brand new phone free of charge. I may call HTC and see if they would do the same.

They should with no questions asked! My button still has a click and I press a lot during the day! But I also have to be honest....I don't miss my S3's home button at all! :)

I hope they would replace it as it is a defect of the phone. And I couldn't agree more. Hardware usually fails before software. At least in my experiences

My beef is not so much this, but more along on the lines that it's in a really awkward spot for me to use. I'm right handed, so usually hold the phone in my left. I really have to contort my hand to get to the power button and depress it. I found the solution for me was the app WakeUp Screen. Installed it and set it for proximity. Now I just touch with my right hand the two holes on the front at the top where the proximity sensor lives and the phone comes on. Now I only touch the power button when powering down or up, ie never.

On my old Sprint HTC One and now my T-Mobile HTC One it is really low to the phone.. Barley poking out. As long as it works.. :).

Also yes they imagined how much it will be clicked guys.. It will last I am sure for the life of the normal phone user (2 years due to contracts).

Sent from my T-Mobile HTC One using AC Forums.

Yeah the placement is awkward but I just accept it now. I got that app and have been using it as well. I'm just thinking of the amount of money I put into the phone to make sure it last for at least 2 years

AUTO SCREEN ON. In the play store. It uses the sensors to turn your screen on when you wave your hand, finger, arm, or any part of your body over it. It simply saves you from having to press the power button and I swear by this app. I've been using it for about a month now with no noticeable battery drain. The ONLY drawback is that it randomly turns the screen on for about 2 seconds...but it seldomly happens.

Try it. Try it now. You know you want to. ....:)

It didn't work for me but Wake Up screen did. I just wish the button wasn't so flushed. It should be like the iPhone or galaxy s4 in my opinion. I know they are different phones but that's an easy comparison

How did it not work for you?

It wouldn't register 80% of the time. Wake Up Screen has the shake feature and proximity feature too.

That's how they all are. If it's below the body of the phone then it's a problem. If it not happy with it get an s4.

I think this is actually a defect. I traded my phone twice and checked two or three different ones before I got one I was happy with. The recessed power button was one of the issues I had.

So the majority of the phones all had the same characteristics and u picked the one that was different. Could u show a picture of what u think is a bad power button?
