Reconsidering the TB for a different phone? Here's a few comparisons.

The Bionic sounds like my dream phone after the phone that's after my dream phone.

I don't like Motorblur on the Atrix though, so hopefully the UI feels a little better.

This far, the only thing that has even caused me to slightly raise an eyebrow is the Bionic, and even that I really have zero interest in. I'm certainly not switching away from Verizon either. So for now, it looks like I'm either sticking with my Fascinate or waiting out the Tbolt release.

Those are my thoughts exactly. I am using a stock Fascinate and am wondering what will happen first, offical Froyo for the Fascinate or the release of the Thunderbolt. VZW sure likes to take it's time and I happen to be hung in between these two issues. If the Fascinate gets OTA Froyo before the TB comes out then I might just wait a bit, otherwise I will be spending some big money to buy the TB outright. I had a chance to play with a friends Evo Shift today and I really like Sense over the TW on my phone. It's a tough decision for me. :)

I thought the TB had a Super LCD screen as well?

in the first graph, it syas the Thunderbolt does not have a SuperLCD screen and it actually does.

Fixed.

It makes it sound better though headphones, it's not even something you can turn on unless you're using them. It just gives the illusion of more dimension to the audio. Nothing groundbreaking, it's been on a lot of devices for a while, they just felt like advertising it here.

This.

Doh! That's the one I was looking forward to >.<

It's coming. You'd be surprised how long it took to just put that together. Some of the information is hard to find, manufacture websites leave out certain things, and I had to go to 2 or more sites to get complete information and verify what I was reading was accurate. At one point, I was like WTF am I doing this? but I figured I might as well finish it.

Haha, not complaining; I appreciate it quite a bit actually. But I saw the charts and got my hopes up for the one I wanted to see... Have I learned nothing from my time here? :-[

I was all set to get the TB when it launched but because of all the delays I ended up putting a new rom on my x and REALLY like it and started 2nd guessing my decision to upgrade to the TB, I am going to wait now and see what everyone says about it instead of getting it at launch, I think I am more worried about battery life then anything else though

If it does use dolby headphone.... that would be badass for movies. Except I would never disgrace a movie by watching it on a 4.3" screen.

Just watch something like The Incredibles. A great movie, but doesn't require a 36"+ surround sound setup since it's, what, 7 years old. :D

Thanks Cory for the chart. When both were announced I was considering the Bionic for future proofing my tech, but I am not a huge fan of Moto's attitude towards the user community.

I do prefer HTC, and they have far more support in the user community for custom ROM's easier access to rooting the device etc. As much as I try to immerse myself into the tech it is becoming more challenging to compare and contrast one phone to another.

My biggest concern now is the forking by virtue of processors. Qualcom vs NVIDIA, and of course the NVIDIA game centric store. This can lead to bigger issues than whether or not you are running 2.3.3 vs 2.4. They are both Gingerbread but they are not the same.

What I am hoping to find is a better clarification of pro's & con's of the processors, not based on the cores (that will catch up in time) but over all benefits. Look at the TB and Bionic, the graphics cards alone make little sense to the everyday user.

If devs fail to explicitly note which devices can run their app then we give other OS's a way to gain ground on our chose platform and that can be our undoing.

I really like everything about the thunderbolt except the battery. I had an incredible and compared to my droid x the battery was asstasstic. I have the 1950 mah battery now in my X and its amazing. I'm seriously considering the bionic now solely for battery reasons.

I don't want to have to Cary a spare battery. I don't mind buying an extended as long as it works with the stock battery cover. I just want to free wifi tether some 4g goodness to my Xoom but I don't want my phone to die before my Xoom dips below 90%

Excellent, thank you. Do we know anything about the different Incredible S vs. Thunderbolt chipsets? What's the difference between the 8255 and 8655 chips?

Edit: the 8655 chipset in the 'Bolt seems to support both GSM and CDMA, but it just might not have the radios? That'd be a damned shame.

The 8655 is CDMA, the 8255 is GSM. That's the only difference.

Fixed.

Just to let you know, the Atrix is a 4" screen, not 4.3.

Tbolt, not sure which of those other phones you were refering to, but if it was the Droid X then you can see a comparison between it and the ThunderBolt (as well as the other LTE phones) in the spreadsheet linked in my signature.

I'm doubtful that any extended battery would work with the stock battery cover. I read somewhere that the reason HTC didn't put in a larger battery to begin with was due to space constraints within the shell they wanted to use. Since battery life seems to be one of the issues with the ThunderBolt, I'm sure HTC would have put in a larger capacity battery if one would fit. I would love to be proven wrong though.

Seidio is now shipping their 1600 mAh slim extended battery that fits with the stock battery cover with the TB. BUT, I have not had good luck with their batteries. I bought 3 1750 mAh slim extended batteries for my Touch Pro2 and after about 8 months, they are only good for about 2 hours of use. Very disappointing quality for a $50 product. Other 3rd party vendors claim to have such slim extended batteries, but independent testing does not always verify their capacity claims and they seem to be of inferior quality. Verizon takes care of me, 'though--while I'm waiting for the delayed TB, they gave me a true extended capacity battery & cover for $7! They had them on sale for $14 and gave it to me for 1/2 price.

Can someone please explain to me why the Incredible 2 and the TB are so close in specs? It appears that the TB has a larger memory card, SLIGHTLY better processor and is bigger... other than that, everything appears to be equal. The battery life appears much better in the Incredible 2, the RAM is the same... I am having a hard time with this one.

If the Incredible 2 leaks as its coming out in March, I may wait. I don't know if I see much of a difference to justify the much larger size and price tag.

main difference aside from the internal memory (Tbolt 40gig included - Dinc2 1gig internal) is that the Dinc2 wont be 4g lte enabled.

for me that is not a huge issue. If the batt. life due to 4g rumored issue is true then Id be much happier with the Incredible 2.

Edit: Please correct me if the Dinc2 memory is more, iv seen 1.1gig and 8gig I was not sure what is true.

I'd like to get that clarified as well. The HTC website says that the DIncS has 1.1GB of internal memory, but I can't imagine that is correct; doesn't the DInc have 8GB of internal memory?

so the TB only has 480p video playback with a size of 640x480? while the Incredible S has a video playback of 720p with a size of 1280x720 with better pixel density, better battery, its slightly smaller in size ( fits better in the pocket), possibly a world phone and it come with gingerbread. If 4g prices are more expensive than 3g i would say the Incredible S just stole the Thunderbolts thunder..

I'm HTC fan.

I want switch Verizon.

I want LTE.

I am tired of my G1.

So my only option is TBOLT. I was excited for the device but really not what I was expecting. However TBOLT with lack of netflix,dual-core and battery life I will be getting it on 1-year contract. Also to be on contract with verizon for rumored 3g/4g unlimited($30) because I know that deal would not last for long.

That doesn't seem to be correct. Don't the TB and the DincS have the same display resolution?
