Reconsidering the TB for a different phone? Here's a few comparisons.

so the TB only has 480p video playback with a size of 640x480? while the Incredible S has a video playback of 720p with a size of 1280x720 with better pixel density, better battery, its slightly smaller in size ( fits better in the pocket), possibly a world phone and it come with gingerbread. If 4g prices are more expensive than 3g i would say the Incredible S just stole the Thunderbolts thunder..

Just to let you know, the Atrix is a 4" screen, not 4.3.

Both fixed.

Also added comparisons between the TB, EVO, Original Droid, Droid X, and Incredible.

In addition there are quadrant scores for the released phones.

I'm HTC fan.

I want switch Verizon.

I want LTE.

I am tired of my G1.

So my only option is TBOLT. I was excited for the device but really not what I was expecting. However TBOLT with lack of netflix,dual-core and battery life I will be getting it on 1-year contract. Also to be on contract with verizon for rumored 3g/4g unlimited($30) because I know that deal would not last for long.

So far there has been zero evidence of one year options. Lots of speculative evidence of two year contracts via verizon phone and in person discussions...however nothing final that we can point to.

I know but really don't believe they will go down that road with the TBOLT. The no 1-year contract is out the apple playbook. Those really don't have any hard reasons only maybe to fact of the iphone 5 is around corner.

P.S
If the TBOLT does not come out with 1 year contract then guess I will go with o.g incredible maybe.

the thunderbolt's quadrant is 1920. it was from the wirefly video.

yes in the video thats true... but he did state that he was using a Pre-production model, so the score might differ for the production thunderbolt.

How about the memory on the Dinc 2/S? is it really 8gigs or is it the 1.1 gig? Iv seen both listed.. thanks

I'm looking to have this question answered as well. The HTC site says that the DIncS has 1.1GB of internal storage, but I don't see how that can be correct.

Please forgive me if this is an ignorant question (I did do some searching on the forums to find the answer) but what is the "Secured Storage" on the IncS and others? Some sort of in-built DRM-safe storage area for Netflix-type applications (please please please say that it means Netflix is likely to be on the IncS :P) Also, are the slight size differences in the IncS and TB accurate?

Thanks, dc

Both. It has 512MB of shared application storage and a dedicated 8GB emmc to use as you wish (documents, music, pictures, etc). Think of it as an SD card you don't have physical access too because it's under the hood. On top of that, you can add up to an additional 32GB of storage space via an external microSDHC card.

So there are the specs on the TBolt. With the need new tech to play with itch starting to burn, and nothing else compelling to spend my money on other than a new Android phone, I'm left to wonder if this device is even worth my time?

Everything I see here looks very bland to me. I don't use 802.11n anywhere, so that's a non-issue (and, honestly, what does wireless-n matter when the backhaul isn't fat enough to handle the wireless throughput? You just end up with a choke post-router anyway, so why stress over wireless n?). The Chipset is just as fast as the DInc; the battery is a pittance bigger, if it's even a qualitative difference; it's rear camera is identical to the DInc; the screen is bigger, but still WVGA; it has more RAM (maybe the only real plus here); it's got LTE (not a big deal with the network in its infancy and pricing likely to be your first born child and a kidney... or two); and it's got a front camera (maybe the only thing making me actually consider the device).

I'll be buying at full retail if I buy, and I just don't see anything that jumps out at me that would justify the $600+ price point. I'd love to hear everyone's opinions on this; am I the only one who isn't excited at all about this device?

I think there are 100 threads about this topic. But, you're making some pretty huge assumptions about features to drive your decision. Such as cost.

The chipset is not the same as the Dinc. It's the Snapdragon Gen 2.

Some benchmarks (The MyTouch 4G has the same chipset):
LG Optimus 3D Preliminary Performance - OMAP4 Tested - AnandTech :: Your Source for Hardware Analysis and News

This phone is pretty fast. In fact, the review from Wirefly benchmarked the Thunderbolt faster than the MyTouch 4G, so that sweetens the deal.

Also, just because the camera is the same mega pixel rating does not mean it's the same camera. We already know it's a better camera than what's in the Evo (which came out after the Dinc)
