Red Light is on

i found a solution ;))
After i tried sooo many app to disable this sensor light. I found that the solution is to open viber and exit from it ( from settings select exit don:t exit by home button) and try

Hi, I couldn't follow how you fixed the "red light issue".. What is "open viber and exit from it" ???? I just got my S3 last Wednesday.

I've tried restarting and taking out the battery to get rid of the red light that appears next to the camera, and it still doesn't change anything. So the phone would probably have to get checked out if what we try to do doesn't solve anything to the red light.

Try a factory reset. If that doesn't work it's a defect in the LED and you would either deal with it or replace it.

I wish people wouldn't suggest a factory reset quite so blithely. It can be a royal pain to recover from, and it should be the last resort, not the first thing to try.

Crystal, did you recently install any new apps? If so, you might try uninstalling them, reboot, and see what happens. Otherwise, try a couple of other things first:

1. Go to Settings / Display / LED. Uncheck all the options, then reboot, and see if it goes away. (I'm assuming you're not charging the phone--the red light is supposed to be on then.) If that works, then re-check the appropriate options.

2. If that doesn't work, try clearing the phone's cache. Boot into recovery (Turn the phone OFF, and wait for it to shut down completely. Press and hold, at the same time, the volume UP, home and power keys. When you see the Samsung logo, release all three buttons. If the phone boots normally, shut it down and try again.) Use the volume buttons to select the option to clear cache, then the power button to execute. Reboot the phone.

3. If that doesn't fix it, try going to the Application Manager, and tap Menu / Reset app preferences.

If none of that works, then a factory reset might be the next step. You'll want to back up as much of your data as possible first. Check out the Helium app in the playstore, or use Kies.

The red light isn't the proximity sensor, it's a status indicator, and has nothing to do with signal or service. Generally, the red LED indicates the phone is charging.

This is an issue which has been bugging me for some time "Illuminated LED / Sensor next to camera" not sure if this will work for all you guys but it worked for me as I didn't have 'Viber' as previously stated in this thread.

Google Play App - My Apps - Updated "ChatON"

Like I said not sure if it will help, just figured I'd post my fix on here.

Hope it does help nevertheless..

I have a samsung galaxy s3 and I noticed that the indicator light which is usually red was blinking PINK I looked at it for a min or so to make sure I wasn't seeing things and showed it to my sister and girlfriend and none of us could figure it out and we all have the same phone

I found that messenger apps, (such as viber or text now), make the light turn on. Uninstalling the app will turn off the light.

I really wish people would read what is being originally asked before offering their replies.
The S3 has LED lights on BOTH sides of the phone. LED Notification lights on the LEFT side that indicate charging, messages, etc and smaller LED Sensor lights on the RIGHT side next to the front facing camera. The original posters issue was with the smaller LED Sensor lights on the RIGHT side next to the front facing camera that are on for no apparent reason; NOT the notifications lights, solid or blinking, on the LEFT side of the phone. The sensor lights on the RIGHT side of the phone next to the front facing camera on ny daughters S3 are on more than they are off. We have done a factory reset, and checked as we reloaded her common apps 1 by 1 and these sensor lights seem to have no preference to which app is installed when they come on. Its random. Reboot the phone and they are off, set the phone down and leave it alone and 1, 5, 20, or maybe even 60 minutes later they are on. No idea why.s3leds.jpg

i have a samsung galaxy s2 and when the battery hits like 49% or near that the phone shuts down ..and then when i plug it into the charger it opens with like a under 10 % ..why!?

I do factory data reset and the red poximity red light still there. what going on?

I have too seen it on my new phone oppo f3 , it glows when screen is off , during calling or when you turn off screen , and it disappears when you again turn on your screen , I guess it's showing that sensor is still active .

Yeah, mine only comes on when it's charging. But do heard it's a bad thing. Means it's been rooted or something.
