Android Central Question

I just noticed a red square at the bottom left hand of my galaxy s8plus Screen that wont go away. I restart the phone and it goes away but then it comes right back. If I touch or try to drag it, nothing happens.

I have a Galaxy A8 star that has also caught the little red box issue on the bottom left.
it's weird as it can move when the keyboard is active and moves back to the corner when the keyboard is out of use, its definitely a software thing the AMOLED screen is fine. Screenshot_20190508-121528_Word.jpgScreenshot_20190508-121534_Word.jpg

As you can see the red square can move a bit in each image.

I am having the same problem too. I also had something different happen too. A larger red box in the top right popped up and had some text that looked like commands. It said:

PAGE_SHOW: SplashAct
PAGE_HIDE:SplashAct
PAGE_SHOW:MainActivity
PAGE_HIDE:MainActivity

I have tried to attach a screen shot. I also noticed when using my browser is keeps giving me warnings about my connection isn't secure and people can see sensitive information like passwords and credit card info.

I can't get this to go away and I checked for recently installed apps and software. There was nothing suspicious. I'm stumped and would appreciate any help you can give. Thanks

I don't have any, on my lg g4 i can actually turn dev options off. And with all developer functions disabled and dev tools off, I still have this red square

Strange. It really does seem like a Developer Option, but you've already turned them all off. The phone's not rooted, is it?

Ultimately, you may want to back up your data and do a factory reset.

Red box appeared bottom left of my screen

I purchased a Galaxy A9 a few weeks ago and nice red box appeared in the bottom left corner yesterday that will not go away aside from possibly factory reset. Also this morning I woke up with an email from Credit Karma stating that all my sensitive information hadn't been compromised showing several of my important username and passwords. really the only other thing that I notice is that my phone calls dont work half the time either I can't hear them they can't hear me or there are weird beeps or static and sometimes it's normal. Any ideas. Thanks. - Derek

Welcome to Android Central! I merged your thread into this one, since it's the same issue. The whole credit card thing makes it sound like some kind of glitchy adware, but that should go away in Safe Mode. It raises the possibility of malware, which could be a significant problem if it still shows up in Safe Mode -- that suggests it could be installed to the system root, and so a factory reset wouldn't necessarily get rid of it.

At this point, it may be best to back up your important data and try a factory reset to see if it goes away. If it's still there, then you may want to consider reinstalling the stock firmware using Smart Switch or Odin: http://forums.androidcentral.com/am...w-flash-stock-rom-via-odin-new-interface.html

You could check which apps have the 'display over other apps' permission enabled. The steps, and even the name, could be slightly different depending on your phone and Android version. Try this way, settings - apps & notifications - advanced - special app access - display over other apps.

I can confirm in did come back in safe mode after 30 mins and acted like malware. I did a factory reset twice. The first one it was still there but after the second it has not shown I know for a week.
