My wife's EVO is having a lot of camera problems. It stopped working, then it started working again, now it's not working at all. I'd like to start out from scratch. Her phone has never been rooted or tweaked or anything. I just want to re-flash a fresh install of the stock rom on it. How can I do this? Thanks!

Make sure you have HTC Sync installed on your computer, and download & run this file:

RUU_SuperSonic_GB_Sprint_WWE_4.67.651.3_Radio_2.15.00.12.19_NV_2.33_release_234563_signed.exe

It's a ROM Update Utility that will install the latest stock ROM (2.3.5 Gingerbread) on your device. It will wipe all your data, so be prepared for that (your SD card will be unaffected)!

As mentioned your phone will be wiped so first download and install from the Market App Share or something similar. Then e-mail a copy of the installed apps onto your phone.

Rather than using HTC Sync and hooking your phone to your computer I would just do a Factory Reset from your phone directly (Menu-->Settings-->SD & phone Storage and at the bottom of the screen will be the Factory Reset). As long as you have installed the updates you will go to a pristine copy of the stock system.

Before you begin, make sure that your phone is fully charged as running out of juice when doing a factory reset will cause all sorts of problems.

For the time being, I ended up just doing a reset by using the boot screen and wiping the storage. This actually fixed the camera problem, at least for now. Thanks so much for the replies... I may have to resort to the full reflash eventually.

Is the camera coming up black, negative, or not at all? I've seen the mount get loose before and the lense literally just needs to be pressed down.

Whatever it was looked like a software issue... It would randomly decide to come up with a black screen. My old EVO did it for a while too but I got it replaced by Sprint right before I got rid of our phone insurance. So when hers began acting up a few weeks ago, I did a software update on the phone and it fixed the problem for a few days. Then it was back to not working again. Now today it seems fine. But only time will tell.
