Refurb unit...factory reset necessary?

I'm getting a refurb Maxx from Verizon to replace my defective bionic. Since it's a clean refurb, is a factory reset needed? If so, will I lose anything important? Anything to do special ahead of activating?

It should come as a new one would right out of the box at factory default mode. So you would need to sign in to your google account just like you would do if you bought a new one. Enjoy your device.

I got a like new device right before I upgraded to ics, so it was a clean install and it has worked perfectly ever since I got it.
