Ok, take this with a grain of salt. My friend that works for Sprint tech support was in training for the Nexus S yesterday.

Talked to him this morning and he said that they didn't give a specific date for release but he said next month I told him about the rumored April 17th/18th date and he said that the Echo is going to be released on that date. I hope he is wrong because I want to get rid of my original Sprint Pre so bad now. He did say as soon as he has firm date he would let me know.

The wait continues....

yes the nexus S is kind of slipping in under the radar. The Sprint store near my house is tucked into a little corner and didn't even know it was there until the other day. i asked the rep about the nexus S, he didn't know when it would be in. The rep said "man this store have been here for over ten years, we never have a big rush when something major hits the store" " just stop by the morning that I is released and i am 99% sure it will be here with plenty of stock to spare"

Why doesn't Sprint just come out and give us a date?

I wish I had a date to give as i'm awaiting the release of this handset as well... My coworker said that supposedly we're getting them in the shipment today, but I call BS on that. I definitely won't be holding my breath.

I've got to think it is still coming soon. I'm still betting it comes out in April. Anyone happen to know how long Sprint has taken to release phones after training in the past?

Part of me wants to go ahead and pick up an Epic or an Evo and return it for the Nexus when it comes out. My Pre seems like a piece of junk next to my wife's shiny new Epic.

I spoke to a rep I know at the local store, he said they have a large plano-gram change out this Sunday and the three new devices on it are The Echo, a new Mi-Fi hotspot and the Blackberry Playbook WI-FI (which comes out on Tuesday)...

He mentioned that in the weekly meeting they discussed these 3 devices as well as the Nexus; however the first 3 had dates and the Nexus was "Coming Soon Spring 2011"...

I don't think we will see it this Sunday, but wouldn't surprise me if it does in fact show up this month...

bestbuy site no longer has the shipping info - now says SHIPPING "not available" though you can still ADD TO PACKAGE. which i did and i can go all the way thru the process yet it says at the end 'shipping not available'. i did not submit order so i don't know what would have happened if i completed it.

Should I preorder from BB, or just go to Sprint?

I preordered with Best Buy last Sunday, told I can return the pre-order gift card if I need to. I also pre-ordered with Sprint over the phone last week, they did not make me purchase the gift card. There has been talk about this phone being a Best Buy Exclusive, my guess is that Best Buy may have it before the stores as I have yet to find a store that has the phone (they send one phone to each Sprint store a week or so before launch in the store for an employee in the store to learn the new phone). My bets are on Best Buy will have first, how else is it exclusive?

Thanks! This is actually the second time I've been the tipster. I few weeks ago I gave them the heads up that the gingerbread leak for the droid X and 2 has been rooted.

Yesterday Best Buy was showing shipping dates for Nexus S (Sprint). However this morning, they removed the dates and is showing this "Shipping: Not available".

Another delay maybe?

Best Buy said they are no longer taking preorders online, not sure why. Also, neither Sprint nor Best Buy are saying when the phone will be released (shipping dates for n ext week are NOT guaranteed for Best Buy). Any one know anything more about when this phone will be coming out?

I just walked through the online ordering from Best Buy... didn't actually place my order, but had no problem placing it in my cart and getting to the last step.

Hopefully the release will be soon.... Yesterday I was hoping for Sunday release, but that is very unlikely now!

This is starting to get comical. I can't imagine why the release date has to be such a secret. I pre-ordered at best buy, so I suppose they will call me a day prior to release to let me know when I can pick it up. Until then, I don't put much faith in any more rumors.
