Removing T-Mobile

The lower price and exchange rate were irresistible to buy an HTC Sensation 4G when I was back home in the USA. Completely unlocked T-Mobile version. In my naivity, I thought when I used my Orange UK SIM and registered the phone with Orange that it would update the phone accordingly. It didn't, of course.

It isn't just the T-Mobile home screen, etc., but apparently the "corruption" of the base programming to suit T-Mobile USA which has other unwelcome effects (according to the HTC Sensation helpline). For example, entering a contact address will ONLY allow USA Zip Codes. Not even considering the breathtaking assumption that all Americans know no one who lives outside the USA, or that they might move outside the USA as well, it is making synching my contacts very difficult.

HTC help said there "may be an app for that" - to remove the T-Mobile USA "tweeks" which would be very hopeful, but I fear it will mean rooting; my tech skills are pretty much zero.

Any advice / guidance / point in the right direction?

Many thanks!

First, you need to get S-Off and root your phone.

Using SuperCID will completely debrand your phone, allowing you to flash non T-Mobile software.

From here it is just a matter of flashing a different ROM to give you the options that European Sensations have.

All of the above can be found in the Development section of the Sensation forum at XDA. I would post links, but I'm not at my computer. Good luck!
