Hello all

I have a Rooted DInc with the original AMOLED. Cracked  my LCD so now I have to replace it with a SLCD. My question is will the rooted Dinc freak out when I install the SLCD since it's not a AMOLED? It was rooted using unrevoked 3 but unfortunately I can't remeber what ROM and kernal i used last.

Thanks in advance

This actually shouldnt work because an AMOLED and LCD are not the same at all. its like trying to plug a MAC keyboard into a PC, just was not built for it . or a honda motor into porsche .

Dude it shouldn't freak out but I have never seen anyone try this. You dont have insurance ?

anyone selling a AMOLED screen for DInc! =)

Ill take a look around i think there i places to buy it online
Thanks, let me know. I found some places online but they won't confirm if it's SLCD or AMOLED...arghhhh.

Thanks again

Have you brought it to Verizon? I've gotten warranty replacements for cracked screens a few times before. If it will power on in the least they will usually replace it under warranty. Clearly it is under a year old.

Unroot before doing this, obviously (assuming it can power on all the way).

They are not even going tio check for root. Especially if its not a software issue

Unless the connector is different I don't see why it would matter what screen you use.

because they are built completely differently and the drivers and the way the power boards are designed are different , optimized for different power consumptions etc.....
its like trying to drop a rotary engine where a piston motor was,,, sure it may fit in the space and they both do the same thing move the car but its not as simple as just dropping it in

Thanks for all the replies. I'm going to hit up Verizon first to see if I can get them to replace it. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks again.

Upstreammiami...any chance you willing to swap your AMOLED with one of ur SLCD? =) j/k

No go at Verizon, hitting up HTC next when the warranty shop opens!

It makes no difference. I destroyed the screen on an AMOLED unit and it's replacement was an SLCD. Just for giggles rooted the new phone, fixed recovery for SLCD, wiped and and laid the AMOLED nandroid down. Took right off and ran. No issues at all

You're assuming most people even know what a rotary engine is! ;-) lol
