Resetting a Google Nexus 7 for a new user

My father just passed away and had a Google Nexus 7. I am not sure of his google user name and password. How can I reset the device to default setting so I can start to use it?

I am sorry you have lost your father. If you can start up the device, add a new account (yours) then remove the old account. You can then reset the device. If the device has a screenlock it's impossible to get around this so you would need to contact Google for assistance.
