One of the everyday functions I do with a tablet is remotely log in to my main desktop server. I have been using RDP Iite, nice free, easy app. Been using it for years on phones, tablets, etc. But because this tablet had such a monster high res screen, no matter what screen res I set the app to, it draws it really small on my Note's screen. I can pinch and stretch the screen, but just wondering if anyone has found a better way to set up an rdp session.

Use the official Microsoft Remote Desktop. It will force a 1280 x 800 desktop. It's fantastic with the SPen.

can I get that I the play store?

EDIT: OMG you have changed my LIFE! Took a second to realize this app does not have a separate field entry port #, but took me a minute to know I had to append to the IP. (I use a custom port).

But WOW How gorgeous it looks. and full graphic screen, wallpaper and all.

Thank You Thank You Thank You :-D

To really squeeze out the best from the app, use a keyboard that has an undocked thumb mode like SwiftKey. The default Samsung keyboard has one too. That way, you don't lose half the screen when you go to type.

You can activate the compact function keys by pressing the menu button. If you double tap any of the keys, it will lock that key. So if you double tap Alt, it will Alt lock. Then you can tap Tab and do Alt Tab switching just like on the desktop. I don't know of any other rdp app that does this.

Using the SPen as a pointing device makes this the absolute best RDP experience on Android.

I don't thumb type, never could, guess I'm old school or spastic ;-). But I see the mouse cursor is on by default so I have to mouse navigate around the screen, instead of just double tap or long press. any way to control this.

Thanks so much for pointing me to this very nice apl

Tap the menu key, then tap the button that looks like a scribbling pen to toggle the mouse cursor. I don't use the mouse cursor because of the SPen.

I've been using splashtop which works great also but after reading this post I tried the MS official rdp app and I might just switch over and use RDP

I had looked at Splashtop, but I did not want to have to install another application on the PC's that I have to access at any given time. RDP Lite as well as now the MUCH better MS RDP app utilizes MS rdp native capabilities.

I got MS RDP working for 1 day only. Now the app can't find the server. Both tablet & PC are still on the same network. Any suggestions?

check your router to make sure you are port forwarding the incoming request to your external ip address, to your internal ip address. if your internet connection is a dynamic ip, it may have changed, and you would have to edit the rdp app settings to reflect that
