[Retired ROM] Aphrodite 1.3.3 (stable w/Xionia 005) (01apr11)

Thanks for the update. Any chance you integrate a couple of the tweaks over at http://uot.dakra.lt/ ?

Mainly just the battery mod in the status bar. I usually do it myself after a install/update. (I also have a few of the other tweaks to, but it might add to the rom being a little bigger). If not, totally understandable. I figured the standard battery mod for the status bar is wanted by many, and would not add to the rom size very much. Just a idea.

I've been messing with it, trying to learn it, I want to build a nicely themed rom as well, but this rom is meant to be just a blank canvas. I have been contemplating the battery mod though.

Kitchen has A LOT of options for all parts of the interface. I think it's better to just leave it as is and let people make their own. Battery options vary quite a bit and have lots of different options. :)

Yeah, that was about the only thing I was considering. Every time I think about any kind of mod, I always decide it just goes against what this rom is meant to be.

No one should expect this rom to change much.

It will get a kernel change when I get one that is newer and stable (that is what 2.0 is exploring), but Aphrodite will not change much, only minor tweaks to improve speed and battery. It's meant to be pure, and I intend for it to stay that way. If I decide to go messing with it, I'll build a whole new rom with a new name.

and when you do..look me up..i love your motivation ;)

Thank you so much for this ROM was running RevolutionRed first and was great but this stripped down version was exactly what I wanted. Been running this since 1.1 release and couldn't be happier.

Decided a while back to use uot kitchen for a black status bar and overall black theme, only non-stripped down thing on my phone and it has become the perfect setup for me. Battery life is beyond incredible with this rom and it runs incredibly fast/smooth.

Do yourself a favor, take a rom zip, open it up and look around. My advice is start in system/app, which is where the apps are stored. You can then add/remove, save it, then flash it back. [/B]Of course you will need to disable signature verification when you go to flash it [/B]until you learn that part, which is easy, but this will at least get you experimenting. It's how I started and how Aphrodite 1.0 was born. It's evolved since then to include changes that involved editing files, but that is how I got started.

Wow I feel a little silly I had tried tinkering around before with my gtab and got discouraged early on. but now that I look again it's clear as day. thanks again!

Steve

What?! Why was it so d@mn important to honor the contracts of wall street @sst@rds who blew up the economy with multimillion dollar bonuses but living up to a contract to our teachers is socialism? BTW, WI teachers didn't blow up the world's economy.

New versions are out.

Extra Pure, is this rom plus the original non-overclockable version, for those with charging issues.

2.0 is out of beta, and is using the 008 kernel for those interested.
Both are based off 1.3.3, so they all have the malware patch and speed tweaks included.

As with all Aphrodite roms, you can just flash over older versions (of Aphrodite) in most cases without issue.

I think we used up the allotted direct links.
Look for the "Click here to start download from MediaFire.."

Gave a quick try day a bit ago. While it does feel a bit too stripped for my needs, it is a breath of fresh air and a great addition to the ROMS here. Keep it up!

I tried all the 1st-generation roms (lol, that's what I call RevoRed, Rodimus, aosp, and Zefie) and stuck with RevoRed in the end. But after reading up on new roms I decided to go with this, as RevoRed was the template for this. So far I am pleased. I did a clean install and have gotten many MBs back by this clean naked rom.
Awesome stuff, LeslieAnn. Keep up the good work.

Aphrodite Variations
1.x This rom will remain on the Xionia .005 kernel which has proven quite stable.
1.x Extra Pure, this uses the stock Virgin kernel (not overclockable), it is meant for those who have charging problems with other kernels.
2.x This rom will use the 1.x/android 2.2 base, but pushes the kernel forward and is therefore less stable.

Hey LeslieAnn, I was just reading the comment you made about the kernels in your last post. Since using Aphrodite 2 I have noticed the phone seems to restart more often (than when using Aphrodite 1.xx). Other than stability issues is there an advantage to using one kernel over the other?

Nope.
If you are restarting, I would guess you are using overclock. I too had some issues with it. Particularly the 013 kernel from the 2.0 beta. 008 runs better, but it is still not as stable as 005.

2.0 can be used safely, which is why I moved it out of beta, but it's not perfect.
To be honest, I think 005 actually runs faster as well.

where can i find revored for my phone???
What you you mean? Are you looking for RevolutionRed's rom?

Before doing any of this, I recommend doing a nandroid backup just incase. After these modifications, first bootup might take a few minutes so be patient.

Here is a FILE I cooked using kitchen. The boot logo has been changed to a blue 3d spinning honeybee.
It also has the battery icon modified to show the percent value.

I modified the notification bar to be black using the sense style. The clock is by default black. I had to change it to white, or else you would not be able to see it with a black notification bar. This FILE needs to be pushed via adb to "/system/framework/". The result looks something like this when both mods are installed.

Notification Bar Mod, battery, and boot logo: Download (install via recovery)
White Clock Mod: Download (push with adb to "/system/framework/")

Well, I took the leap and installed this as my first ROM after rooting. This is working wonderfully, thank you so much, LeslieAnn :-)

One quick clarification, I installed 1.3.3, but the Build number in About Phone says Aphrodite 1.3.1... is this correct?
