Before doing any of this, I recommend doing a nandroid backup just incase. After these modifications, first bootup might take a few minutes so be patient.
Here is a FILE I cooked using kitchen. The boot logo has been changed to a blue 3d spinning honeybee.
It also has the battery iconmodified to show the percent value.
I modified the notification bar to be black using the sense style. The clock is by default black. I had to change it to white, or else you would not be able to see it with a black notification bar. This FILE needs to be pushed via adb to "/system/framework/". The result looks something like this when both mods are installed.
Notification Bar Mod, battery, and boot logo: Download (install via recovery)
White Clock Mod: Download (push with adb to "/system/framework/")
You can use the version 010 kernel. Charging problem fixed and it's a rock for me.
As for overclock, I usually run 768-786 whatever it is in that area on performance, but listening to streaming music and/or GPS gets pretty hot. So I'm probably going back to on demand. It may be a tad slower, maybe a bit worse on battery, but it's nicer overall.
This rom will stay on 005 as it's quite stable, but I am starting testing on 2.0 with the v010 kernel. Which will likely be the future of the 2.0 rom. 1.3.3 is pretty much as tuned as it can get.
I just need to get Extra Virgin squared away and then 2.0/010 will start. I want this to stay on 005 just because we know it is a good stable rom.

Update: both of the other roms have been updated.
Minor changes that effect only 1 model of 1.3.3 roms are denoted with a letter, more on this is found on the Extra Virgin thread.
Hello Leslie,
I have GB 2.3 on my phone and it seems to run very well except for no MMS and BT. My battery life is fantastic and I overclock to 806 with no issues. If I was to return to Froyo would it be worth it using the Roms and Kernals you talk about? I do want MMS but I can wait and see if it gets fixed. How do compair them? I have aospCMod | AOSP 2.3.1 or 2 / CM7 (Gingerbread) , the one that came with Zeam Launcher (love it) and the black menu on top with the little icons. Whats the goal of tweaking Froyo if the performance is slower then Gingerbread?
The performance increase, is over-rated.
The whole idea that it is faster is based on a synthetic benchmark. In real world use the difference between GB (which are all tweaked) and a tweaked Froyo is almost nothing. It's a bit unfair to compare stock vs tweaked.
If you haven't played with a good Froyo rom, then maybe you should, otherwise how do you know GB is any better? In my opinion the only reason for GB at the moment is Cyanogen, and much of that is easily replicated in Froyo, without the drawbacks.
Regardless, can you direct me to that rom your speaking about that's as close to GB as possible? Any Rom with the black top menu and Cyanogen? I can add the overclocker and launcher myself. I'd love to get MMS back. Your recommendation?
