[Retired][ROM]Superclean 2.9.2 EA15/EB01/EB16/EC10 Based

Don't know about the patch, but you enable disable the agps/gps in menu=>settings=>location and security. You have three locations services - Verizon, stand alone, and Google. Check mark - enabled, no check mark - disabled. Leave a check mark on Verizon and Google. Adrynalyne has advised turning on GPS by going to this menu and enabling stand alone rather than through the quick panel in the notification bar. I found out yesterday from playing around, putting a check mark after stand alone services turns on the gps icon in your quick panel.

I thought that was it for the GPS. I think I'm going to flash 2.9.1 patch, GPS fix is included along with some other fun stuff :)

Ok, I think I may have found the SMS to MMS Patch here -> [MOD][3/11/11] Froyo TW Samsung *v2.5* DeliveryReports/"Screen On"Notif/SMStoMMS - xda-developers by GizmoDroid. Looks like he has two SMS.apk's. One that will convert SMS to MMS after 960 characters and one that will convert after 160. Also has the same in EB16 that can be flashed via CWM. I'm going to go into Root Explorer and replace my SMS.apk with the 960 character one and see how it goes. Hopefully I dont get any FCs :)

Hey Adrynalyne, wanted to finally post a topic specific post after my fluff ones. I never had much of a problem before with GPS since using superclean. Sitting in my home I would get a lock in Google maps accurate to less than 10 meters within 30 seconds at the most. Outside it would lock to anywhere from 2- meters within 10 seconds. Even with those great results, decided I would try your GPS and 2.9.1 patches for experimental purposes to see if those combined with you adding back in the Verizon framework would make any difference.

Here is my story from this morning and I am not exaggerating this at all for any of the doubters out there, I literally counted the seconds in my head. Left my home, turned on wifi and GPS, opened Google maps, got a lock accurate to 6 meters in 8 seconds. Closed Google maps, turned off wifi and GPS, drove for about 20 miles, turned on wifi and GPS, opened Google maps. While my car was moving on the expressway, map scrolled to my location at the count of one, the blue triangle was exactly where I was on the road, at the count of three, clicked on the triangle and said accurate to within 1 meter.

I have said this many times and will say it ad infinitum, you are the man and the work you do is incredible. 2.9, in my experience is super stable, solid as a rock, clean as hell, and fast as lightning. I have been flashing the hell out of it with different themes, patches, and mods and have not had one single force closure or problem. NOT ONE! The only problem I have had has been getting the force close loop of hell at boot animation when restoring a nandroid backup, but that has been an issue for a long time and not related to your ROM at all in my opinion. Jaekar99, Suicide Shift, and I have been working our tails off trying to find a solution to that problem and continue to post our results in Jaekar's themes thread.

Just wanted to share the great results with you and everyone else and thank you again for your awesome work. Hope you feel better soon. The Sharkster.

EDIT - Adrynalyne's GPS fix patch can be found in post #357 on page 36 of this thread.

Upgraded to SC 2.9 Nonvoodoo yesterday and its been running like a champ, no force closes like i was seeing in 2.8. Also im using the Rotary unlock and have been running music player (with the screen locked) for hours now and no reboots or problems. May upgrade to 2.9.1 though if it really makes the GPS better.
Thanks Adryl !

You don't really "upgrade" to 2.9.1. It's not a complete ROM, it is just a patch you flash over 2.9 in cwm. Definitely flash the 2.9.1 patch as well as Adrynalyne's GPS fix patch found in post #357 on page 36 of this thread. See my results above.

i posted this this morning,

I flashed 2.9 last night, and started having problems so I flashed back to 2.8. When I would hit the power button the phone would go black and vibrate and if I hit the soft keys they would just light up. I would have to pull the battery.

i got this as an answer,

I've mentioned this before, but I do not support themes. If you flash themes or mods that are not compatible with this rom, expect problems.

Don't deny it This issue comes from flashing different framework over mine.

this was my answer,

I didn't flash any theme, the only thing that I flashed was cwn-recovery-all

did cwm cause my rom to mess up? should i try 2.9 again?
i flashed cwm recovery all because mine was blue, and i was thinking about installing a theme. now that i am back on 2.8 my cwm is blue again.

As has been documented by me in countless posts around these forums, prior to superclean 2.9, nonvoodoo users will revert back to stock blue recovery. You will need to flash cwm-all in ODIN again. As long as you stay on 2.9, cwm-all will stick and you will boot directly to it every time. 2.9 is rock solid and as long as you flashed to it from cwm-all you should have no problems. Sounds more like something you are carrying over with your previous set up is somehow incompatible with 2.9. Did you wipe cache and Dalvik cache prior to flashing 2.9? If not I would start there. Wipe those and flash to 2.9. If you did those, you are going to need a deeper wipe, so back up your contacts and apps, wipe data, wipe cache, wipe Dalvik, then flash 2.9. See if that works.

Hey Les, read my other posts here and also flash Adrynalyne's GPS fix patch.

Thanks for testing it out! Going to flash the gps fix in a few but passing on 2.9.1 patch since I haven't had any issue without it

I never really had any issue without it either, but you can't beat those results I posted.

Does anyone know if Adrynalyne has a Paypal account or other that he has setup that i can donate to for all his hard work?
Thanks

You can donate to him through paypal. His email address is Adrynalyne@gmail.com
Landshark- Thank you for that. And thank you for your always fast replies and knowledge to everyone here in the forum, i do alot of reading and see you just about everywhere in the posts. Hopefully when i get better at this phone customizing i can start lending some advice myself.

Just flashed 2.9.1 patch and GPS_fix_2. My GPS accurately locked on in about 25 seconds... INSIDE of Starbucks! Before, with 2.4 / 2.8, I couldn't get a lock on in 25 MINUTES (literally!)! I'm not sure what the deal was, but my GPS sucked before.

2.9.1 and GPS fix ROCKS!!!:D:D:D

Landshark you weren't kidding, I never had a problem with GPS, it would lock from inside my house or garage in about 10sec be accurate to 10m then 5 sec later go down to ~4m. After your post above I flashed the patch fast, got a lock in ~3sec accurate to 2m. For the thousandth time thanks Adrynalyne, it doesn't get any better than this.

2.9.1 change log says there was gps improvements i thought. Is that zip file something we can flash on top of 2.9.1 to make it better? And does it matter whether standalone/google/vzw gps or location services are checked when you flash in cwm?

Glad to here the GPS changes are helping.

To explain what I did (I don't hide anything):

1. I changed the aGPS server from spirent-lcs.com (poo server) to supl.google.com (more accurate data).
2. I changed the port number to 7276, from 7275, to match the server.
3. I changed the GPS mode from STANDALONE to MSBASED. Our antennas suck, so a standalone gps signal aint gonna cut it for fast locks. Good for accuracy, bad for lock times.
4. I saved all the above info into secgps.conf and pushed it to /data/gps on your device.
5. I decompiled framework.jar and added the above settings to it, then recompiled it, so that even after a data wipe, the correct conf file will be recreated.
5. I switched from the eb16 GPS driver to the eb01 GPS driver.

Also, no need to flash gps fix, I included it with the 2.9.1 patch. No harm if you did, just redundant.

Any issues with BT and voice dialing with 2.91? I switched back to the deodexed/debloat because I had issues on 2.8 but themes don't like the deodexed rom so well. I just need the voice dialing to do its thing while I drive ;)

2 weeks ago i thought to myself, I would have gotten an iphone if it was available on vzw back in november when i got my sf.

1 week ago i thought to myself, i'm tired of waiting for froyo, i will get it now and return to stock whenever the ota comes out and stay on that.

today i think to myself, i wouldn't trade my phone for any other one right now, and i will NEVER willingly return to stock for an ota.

and it is all thanks to the wonderful people on this board, like Droidxcon and Landshark for helping beginners like me. And especially Adrynalyne, for creating this awesomeness, i'll have a brew coming your way real soon.

quick question, i'm guessing if i flash the GPS fix, that will get replaced if I then flash any other ROM besides 2.9.1 correct?
