[Retired][ROM]Superclean 2.9.2 EA15/EB01/EB16/EC10 Based

My first attempt at flashing the other day and installed SC 2.8, then to find out 2.9 is available the next day . Went ahead and installed that last night. Other than a few quircks which were so far have been solved by a couple of reboots, everything looks and is working great. Piece of cake :D!!

BTW, Lankshark, I did get the battery charged fully last night and opened up the terminal emulator. So far have 50% drain on the battery in 8 hrs. Not too bad I think, and hopefully getting better.

2.9!!! Oh yeah!! Taking a break from AC paid off lol. I was just about to flash some mods last night but it looks like 2.9 has them already included.

Flashed the 2.9 last night and it has worked great!! Nice build! Props on the messaging threads appearance, and very nice to have the screen to stay awake now! My CWM is red all the way through now and no bitmap error anywhere to be seen.

With that said there are still Some things I'm still trying to get some answers on:

1. Still Unable to download .PDF from a webpage, even with the Think Free Patch

2. Flash Player plays most videos appropriately in browser, but for some reason, on cnet.com the videos play at normal speed, but the audio is super slow.. Flashed the debinged browser, but to no avail.. any ideas on that?

Adryn, was wondering if there is any way to get the stock android Voice Dialer as a patch? If so would this replace the need to use nuance (which I already flashed)? One of the allures of Froyo for me was the option to be able to dial people directly from the Bluetooth speakerphone without having to go through third party apps, such as vlingo or nuance, which to my knowledge would be possible with Froyo.

I don't know if this was just the audio stream on ah.fm but after flashing sc 2.9v the volume output from the 3.5mm headphone jack seemed considerably lower. I had to crank my stereo up this morning to get the same volume levels in the car.

Again, I'm not sure if the stream I was listening to was quieter and I'm willing test it some more and see, but I was curious if anyone else had noticed this.

What's Everyones' Quadrant Score

What's Everyones' Quadrant score with SC 2.9? I'm running SC 2.9 Firmware Version = 2.2.1, Baseband = DL09, Kernel = 2.6.32.9, Build Number = EB01

I scored a 1457, but I was expecting higher. I've seen some people claim 2000 or higher. I believe my lagfix is enabled.

Edit* Re-ran Quadrant and scored a 1580.

Anyone else having issues with reboots in 2.9?

Hi Adrynalyne,

I loaded 2.9NV earlier this evening and have noticed unprevoked random reboots (3-4 times so far). Nothing real special about my setup, upgraded from 2.8 via cwm red. When it's running, things seem smooth, never had a reboot issue before.

I just ran quadrant and got 1521 which is about par. Quadrant scores aren't really a good way to test a phones performance though.

The real test is how does your phone feel to you? 2.9 voodoo is just as snappy as the other recent builds and I get no lag at all. Don't be fooled by quadrant scores; It's like judging a camera by megapixels, there is A LOT more involved.

Yes, even Gunnermike53 has said the speed difference between nonvoodoo and voodoo superclean builds is hardly noticeable. And JeremytheIndian is right about quadrant scores. But let's all try to keep chit chat out of Adrynalyne's thread unless it is directly related to the superclean ROM. Quadrant scores is more of a voodoo thing so maybe any discussion of that can go over to the voodoo thread? Thanks.

I like the dark themed MMS, but i dont like the blue icon. any way to get the green icon back but still keep the dark theme? I checked the link posted in post #1 but its only for the Samsung Vibrant.

its reallly not a big deal, im just being picky. so please no one bend over backwards if a download isnt already available

Do you mean the bt voice dialer?

I've been looking into it. So far, no dice.

Not sure what bt voice dialer is but my coworkers lg optimus running froyo has a voice dialer widget/app, seems stock android.

Any ideas on the other issues I posted?

Question about the patches -- I 'm not sure what these ones relate to:

DRM Package (eb01)
Samsung MMS (stock, eb01)
TW Live walls (eb01)
2.2.1 Launcher, modded for SF
Nuance (eb01)

Thanks.

We have a new moderator at these forums who is a stickler about following the rules and guidelines of the forums found here: http://forum.androidcentral.com/ver...forum-rules-guidelines-updated-2-26-2011.html
One of the forum rules is pretty much posting questions in an already existing topic appropriate thread rather than starting a new thread which unnecessarily inflates the size of the forums. He is doing a great job of cleaning up the forums and moving new threads to an appropriate existing thread, so yours may get moved, may not, it's up to him. I will tackle your questions though.

1)The flashing in and of itself does not wipe data and contacts. You have to do a wipe of data, cache, and dalvik cache through cwm when going from Eclair (EA28) to Froyo (EB01.) You can use backup assistant on you phone to backup your contacts on your phone, or you can sync your contacts to your gmail account and restore them from there, or you can export your contacts to your sd card and import them back from there (the wipe does not touch the sd card.)

2) Yes, you can flash sc 2.8 over EA28. Yes you are going to another kernel, but the new kernel is included in the ROM. The thing is though you can't just flash the ROM, you also have to flash the EB01 modem. If you want to flash the ROM (which is found in the first post of this thread) by itself through clockworkmod recovery, you will also need to flash the EB01 modem which can be found here: http://forum.androidcentral.com/ver...ckwork-flashable-froyo-eb01-root-busybox.html Or you can just use one of DroidXcon's all-in-one ODIN packages located here: http://forum.androidcentral.com/ver...ged-roms-w-root-clockwork-updated-3-04-a.html Use the EB16SC28_DXC.tar and it will wipe your phone for you, you will get sc 2.8, the modem, clockworkmod recovery, and keep your root.

EDIT - Look at that. As I was typing our wonderful moderator moved your post to the superclean thread so I edited my response slightly.

Just doing some light reading last night and now 2.9 is out!
LS the file you referenced above I'm hoping has a 2.9 version.

One last question, I backed up with Titanium Backup, but in Adrenalyne's notes, he mentions that restoring with TB can have undesired results. what do you recommend to use for restoring apps.

Thanks again,
Mike

He said restoring apps should be okay but to avoid data restores. I personally haven't had any issues restoring apps with tb

SC 2.8/2.9 issue

I started with 2.8 and now went to 2.9 but still have the same issues. When pressing the power button to wake the phone, the bottom lights do not go on. They only go on once I press one of them, and even then they don't have the proper timer. This isn't a big deal for me, just more of an observation.

My problem is with NoLED functionality. When I press the home or back keys to wake up the phone, the puzzle lock screen usually has a green puzzle piece that lets me jump directly to the message. Since I've updated to SC2.8/2.9, the green piece does not show up until I cycle the screen off and then on with the power button.

I thought it might be a kernel issue with the buttons not responding properly, so I flashed the EB01 kernel, but still have the same problem. I came from SC2.2, and everything worked fine in that version.

Is anyone else having this problem? Any thoughts on how to fix it?

DroidXcon is still working on a 2.9 ODIN package but is running into some problems. All you need to do is keep checking his thread http://forum.androidcentral.com/ver...ged-roms-w-root-clockwork-updated-3-04-a.html and it will be there when he is done.

I have been backing up and restoring through titanium backup since I've been rooted and have had no problems. Anyone who uses titanium backup needs to remember two simple things. 1) When doing your backup use the option of backing up all user apps and system data; and 2) When restoring through titanium backup only use the option of restoring missing apps + data, do not restore all apps and do not use any option that restores system data. I think perhaps there are too many choices for backing up and restoring in TiBu, and people get confused. That being said I paid for TiBu Pro and I have heard a lot of people mentioning My Backup Pro because you don't have to be rooted before you use it so it is great for first time rooters to back up their systems. In addition, unlike TiBu which only backs up apps, My Backup Pro backs up pretty much everything - apps, contacts, text messages, system data. For that all in one feature alone I ponied up the 4.99 or whatever it was for My Backup Pro and will start using that now.

I updated to 2.9 non-voodoo today through CWM green 2.5.1.0 and it worked perfectly.

When I applied update.zip in CWM (Either blue or red) it brought me into green and it worked. Was the green CWM part of 2.8 SC?

Adrynalyne, thank you for the new ROM version, it looks great.

I also loaded thinkfree.zip, and tw_videoplayer.zip through CWM green with no problems.

Thanks LS...I think I might hold for Droidxcon's 2.9 and do some more "Booklearnin'" while I wait...
