returned my phone after a week..

Really five phones all back to back and all defective? I've never had a defective phone... I've never heard of anyone having defective phones in my personal life, three faulty LG G2s and two faulty Moto X and still no solution? I personally would just go back to a land line hahaha

this. why tell the forum you returned your phone? to make us feel like we have an inferior phone or something? if this happened to me...i dont see the point of....returning it....going back on my computer...going to android central...simply to tell the rest of the world I returned a phone I didnt like.

Comparisons on the other hand..that at least makes more sense.

Dude, you're sad. I don't get why people feel the need to come to forums and proclaim they are returning their phones. Who cares? Enjoy your next phone. That's the beauty of having choices.

By the way, read the forums. Call quality is not an issue.

I can empathize with the OP if the issue is the same as mine, or as irritating, that I posted many times here about... unwanted digital special effects in your ear. I went through 3 G2's with the same issue (one of which also overheated) and the verizon store employees heard it on all three and agree it's messed up. It's almost maddening that others get to enjoy their G2 when I tried my best to get a working one, but I'm going to give up after 3. It's not worth the aggravation and verizon may not have let me exchange any more. Of course I've also tried 2 Moto X's also with defective mic, so 5 bad phones in a month is about my quota before going insane. I'm going to forget it for a while and appreciate my sluggish galaxy S but at least I can make phone calls and have two-way conversations with it. Also, my galaxy S almost consistently had 5-10 dBm better CDMA voice signal strength than the G2. At times I was shocked at how horribly low the signal level was. I didn't have any way of comparing the 4G signal though.

By the way I tried an iphone 5s in the store and I didn't think it was anything special, I thought the G2 (when it works) was better.

This is the most unbelievable post I have ever read on a phone forum. There is absolutely no way you could get 5 defective phones in a month. The problem is certainly with the operator.

So are you saying the verizon store employees and managers who witnessed all these problems are also using the phone incorrectly? And tech support lied to me when she called me on my moto x and said she could only barely make out what I was saying and she declared it DOA anyway? Whatever, believe what you want. Verizon sales people and customer service told me they get defective units all the time, it's just what to expect.

I do agree however that it's highly unlikely that I get 5 defective phones in a row if you go by statistics and probability of failure, etc. unless they were all bad in one manufacturing batch and I got them all from the same batch. The LG I am not convinced is a hardware defect, could be design flaw or firmware bug. In which case all G2's have the problem but may not surface unless the right conditions are met.

My moto x and G2 problems are shared by others on these and other forums so it's not like it could be operator error.

You know, it is quite possible he is having call issues. Heck, the Galaxy S3/S4 are some of the best selling smartphones and they have terrible signal issues...yet people gobble them up and love them...claiming 'no problems'.

I think I'll upgrade to a G2 eventually...just waiting for used prices to drop.

Dam it I'm so mad :-( I just found noticed dust under my G2 screen. This is my 4th one in 2 weeks with build quality issues. First one the phone had a squeek or ping from cheap plastic battery cover. Guess I'm going back to my trusted iphone 3. The phone has the best 4g vzw signal I've ever had. Just hope you all have better luck and look for that dust and missing pixals

uh once you get one bad phone you are pretty much set up to fail.. the replacements you get are previous returned units.. and verizon's refurbishers don't exactly find the problems with the returned units..just reboot them and ship them out. I went through 3 Gnex's before verizon was willing to just give me a razr m as a replacement, and since I was getting a refurb'd razr m, the first one did random reboots immediately after getting it, and finally on the 2nd unit I have my current phone which I have had a for a year.

you people are ridiculous.

I love how worked up you are over the fact I am posting my experience. Its a warning for others.. get a clue.

I remember waiting for my g2 to arrive a few weeks ago.. and reading reports of bad voice quality I told myself those people were just a minority and it wasnt a real issue.. until my phone did the exact same thing.

Why would I not post that I had this problem? I ignored warnings from others and assumed it was an extremely isolated incident, and its not. educated consumers will read this and hopefully factor this into their decision before buying a phone with a serious flaw right now.

others will cry and moan and act like they were kicked in the balls because someone pointed out something bad about a phone they currently own, therefore they are obligated to be a raging fanboy about it.

Can you expand on the voice call issues? I know some don't use their phones for talking much but I certainly do. Poor signal/voice issues is why I sent back the Nexus S, Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy S2, S3 & S4.

It'll be your end , not the person you are talking to. Its digitizing (makes them sound robotic). Screeching, muffling, cutting out.. its basically just fubar'd on your end.. something messed up with the circuitry or something.

I'm having no issues my call quality is awesome. Oh wait I'm using my iPhone 3. It just smokes the G2.

That's not exactly accurate. If someone gets a defective phone within their 14 day return period, they can exchange it for a brand new phone of the same model. Obviously they can exchange it for a totally different phone too. Getting refurbs are more common when the phone is older and malfunctioning. In fact, this early in the lifespan of the G2, it's also possible you'd get a brand new phone as a replacement after the 14 days. There may not be enough returns that were turned in to 'refurbs' to satisfy those needing an exchange. So in a situation like that, you'd still get a brand new phone. No guarantees of course.

Well to be fair, this 'warning' is something you can read on any forum about any phone. So anyone taking heed of these 'warnings' will never ever buy another phone from any manufacturer. If a given complaint was very common and truly impacted the phone's operation, then these 'warnings' would be all over the internet. Those warnings would be something I'd sit up and take notice of. But when you see a few scattered issues, guaranteed with any mass produced product, I generally give it a big yawn. There hasn't been a phone made where I didn't read issues exactly as you're posting.

But to be perfectly candid, I do take a somewhat skeptical approach when I see one person returning countless phones for things he is characterizing as 'defective' for which the majority of owners are not experiencing. Not saying that's you, but just a general rule that's how I approach these 'warnings'.

And interestingly, the Galaxy S4 was often rated as having the best voice quality of any of the phones out there. I had the S4 and now the G2 and I don't see a whole lot of difference between the two. The best way to tell how you'll feel about the voice quality is to simply venture into any Verizon Corporate Store and make a couple of phone calls from the demos. They're always hooked up so that you can do this.

I personally find the voice/call quality on the G2 to be very good and better than my wife's Iphone 5.

The g2 kills my iPhone 3,4,4s and 5 in call quality and reception. My iPhone started off with good reception and it got worse.... Consistently

All my exchanges were for new devices. It is verizon's policy that in first 14 days it has to be new. I wish you could try before you buy though. Then if you made a test call and you didn't like it you wouldn't have to do a formal return and have it recorded on the account. I guess they do that because once the box is opened it isn't new anymore. You can't even check for scratches or dust under screen without first buying it and deactivating old phone. You can test drive a car, why not a phone?

Not sure if that's true when you buy from authorized retailers.

I wonder if I experienced same problems on all these phones because they were of same production batches. Verizon told me it's not easy to determine that when I asked.

I do that all the time with new phones in the store. I make a few test calls and ask the person I'm speaking to, to tell me how I sound. I listen to how they sound and, as I say, do it a few times. So before I even buy the phone I have a good idea about sound quality. Any Verizon Corporate Store should be set up to allow these test calls.

After 16 days my phone developed some wide bright stripes on the screen. I immediately went to the Verizon store and they immediately exchanged it for a new phone. Great call quality on both phones.

That is interesting. Do they activate it with a test account and you do all this before you change anything on your account? We're talking about actual phone out of a new box? I have to ask Verizon about that. Maybe it was the staff being lazy but you would think that they would have offered to do that given how many times I wad returning phones.
