returned my phone after a week..

Umm no. Sorry, someone posting about returning a phone is extremely useful. For someone like me who is torn between two phones, a post like this might just be the one that helps you make the decision. Not saying the original post was good, I actually just thought it was whiney

Ive had the g2 for 3 or 4 days now.screen is perfect, just used a dead pixel app. Call quality about the same as my old Motorola.. i.e. great, but id say g2 is little louder. I did lose reception at a shopping center today, not sure if thats a verizon thing gonna keep eye on that a bit Man you just cannot kill the battery I did put my phone side by side a Droid Maxx.Colors and screen better on g2 although Max was faster ,more like less animated so it gets from app A to App B faster.

You know **** can happen with a phone. I had two HTC One's. After an update one phone pretty much could not receive or make a call the other one was fine. Now I have a GS4 that has started to function like ***. I am off to get a G2 and hope it functions as it should.

That is interesting. Do they activate it with a test account and you do all this before you change anything on your account? We're talking about actual phone out of a new box? I have to ask Verizon about that. Maybe it was the staff being lazy but you would think that they would have offered to do that given how many times I wad returning phones.

No, I think you're misunderstanding what I said or I wasn't clear. Let's say you're interested in buying a G2, but are concerned about voice quality during phone calls. I'm simply saying you go over to their display model that's present in most Verizon Corporate stores, and make a couple of phone calls. The demos are active and you should be able to complete a phone call. You can go over to virtually any phone on display at the store and do the same thing. If you like the sound quality and that's the only thing hanging you up, then you can feel more confident about buying the phone.

But no, I'm not saying they'll take a brand new one out of stock, activate it for you just to make phone calls and then put it back in the box if you're not happy. That's an exercise that's totally unnecessary as there's nothing different about the demo models in the store that are already active. Just make a call from those and see how you like it.

That's all fine and dandy if you assume the phone you're buying will not be defective. Thanks for clarifying your statement.

I love how worked up you are over the fact I am posting my experience. Its a warning for others.. get a clue.

I remember waiting for my g2 to arrive a few weeks ago.. and reading reports of bad voice quality I told myself those people were just a minority and it wasnt a real issue.. until my phone did the exact same thing.

Why would I not post that I had this problem? I ignored warnings from others and assumed it was an extremely isolated incident, and its not. educated consumers will read this and hopefully factor this into their decision before buying a phone with a serious flaw right now.

others will cry and moan and act like they were kicked in the balls because someone pointed out something bad about a phone they currently own, therefore they are obligated to be a raging fanboy about it.

Can't find or experience the items that you are having an issue with. I am in the greater Tampa FL area and the nearest 4G LTE tower for AT&T is a couple of miles from me.

Also, the glass was never advertised as G3 from either the manufacturer or AT&T (I do not know who your carrier is). It was always advertised at Gorilla Glass 2 and I think that you are confusing a review by a third party entity and not the actual specs of the phone from the manufacturer or carrier. And there is not a material out there that will not scratch if not protected properly, including diamonds.

Sorry, but I like this phone (I am not a fan boy though) and it works as advertised and I have no issues with it except the damn Carrier IQ that I can not get rid of unless I root the phone (I know it can be forced stopped though). At least on VZW can opt out but AT&T can not. Don't know about the rest of the carriers though.

Perhaps it is your carrier and not the phone? You did not specify your carrier. I have AT&T and have not experienced the issues that you are claiming. Can it be your location in relation to the towers? You can drive a Ferrari but if it is on a dirt and pot hole infested road, the car ride will suck. It is not the cars fault though. It wasn't made to be driven on a dirt road. Same with the G2. If the carrier can't do the job, it is not the phone, it is the carrier, not the manufacturer. It is like blaming the steel manufacturers that make the towers for a suck *** sounding phone. One has nothing to do with the other. There is only one 4G LTE AT&T tower in my area and it is a couple of miles from my home.

You also did not specify whether you were using 4G LTE, 4G, 3G, 2G or whatever it is called that your carrier has.

I think it's reasonable to assume the new phone you get will perform as the demo does. If I went into a store and assumed the phone I'd get would be defective, there wouldn't be much point in my checking out the demos, would there? I'd just buy a different phone.
