Returned My Pixel XL

I also have both the 7 plus and the Pixel. I agree with you completely. When looking to snap a picture I always go to the pixel. I would say 99% of the time I am more satisfied with the pixel photos over the 7 plus photos. I do however think the OIS on the 7 plus does a slightly better job than the EIS on the pixel. In having both phones I take the shot with the pixel then upload to google photos (full res) and download on the iPhone. That way if I want to send photos or videos through iMessage I'm not losing resolution. I honestly don't know if I could pick to just use either of these phones. I love them both.

Y'all keep comparing it to the Iphone.

If you had say a Note 5 phone. And you looked at the Pixel XL phone.
And you lost the wireless charging and everything that comes with the Note 5 like the Back button.
Would you still choose the pixel phone ?

Sounds like its all about Mac and Iphone.
I would rather be phoneless than to have a Iphone.

That's right - the OP is about a change in operating systems as well as phones. Try a LG V20 if the camera is not up to scratch in the Pixel, any fault perceived with photos is not about Android.

I'm sorry to hear you will now be getting quality like this from your camera:

Also the iPhone 7 is not at all immune to flare, I have seen it many times already (Sister in Law has an iPhone 7 Plus). It is a property of the lens when presented with an extreme lighting situation (every phone and camera lens does it).

As long as you're happy with your choice :)

I'm sorry I'm getting this quality now with my Pixel XL.

Comparing brush hair detail is of little consequence when you are getting photos like this. When the issue isn't there in the pics from the Pixel, the pics are really good most of the time. When it is there, it utterly ruins the pics sometimes. The light source is not even in 3 of the 4 pics below either ...

I am thinking of moving the same way myself as the OP.

That's messed up, even on crappy old phones from years ago I never got those artifacts. Possibly a defective camera? Or are a lot of others reporting this?

I wonder if the halo issue has anything to do with what other owners identified as the rear glass separating from the phones?

Is there any chance that anybody has checked on the camera lens.
And taken their fingernail and see if there is a piece of plastic over the lens from the factory to protect it .?
I think this could cause the problem.

That is what iMore is about -- iPhone and Apple products. Of course it makes sense for them to display that on the site ;).

Thank you.
But I really do not like Iphones for myself after I had them for many years.

That is 100% okay but that is why I didn't quote you and suggest it ... I suggested it to the OP who was swapping to iPhone. I don't suggest things without reason ;).

Wow that's horrible! Hopefully the pixel 2 will be better.

What about all the money you paid for the 1st pixel.
Why couldn't google of done a better job than what it sounds like.
A lot of money for a phone and a lot more money for the next phone.
And it don't have wireless charging.
And it ain't water proof.
And now I hear it breaks very easily when you drop it.

And these companies that are putting out the phone has the money to do it right the 1st time.
