Returned Note 4, BRING ON THE NEXUS 6

I'm strongly considering returning my Note 4 and getting the N6. I've previously owned the Note 2 & 3, so I'm a fan of the Note series. The ability to root and Android L are definite pros for the N6. I would definitely miss the SD card and removable battery on the Note, but would be able to manage.

The only potential deal breaker will be the camera performance. The Note 4 takes great pics, a definite improvement over my Note 3. Not sure how the N6's camera will compare. Am looking forward to some detailed reviews to start popping up.
Man that's exactly where I'm at right now

If we were to return the note 4, how does that work? We have 14 days to use before returning? For instance I got my Note 4 at best buy. I just go there and return it? . Sorry never had to return a cell phone before. I got it on the 17, so I have until the 31 to decide to keep it or return it... . And the pre-order for nexus 6 starts Oct 29. Decisions, decisions....

Been looking at the specs of the nexus 6 on the Google play store. Very tempting. One question the home and back buttons are onscreen on the nexus 6 instead of physical buttons like the note 4. . Wonder if this is a good thing? It takes up some of the screen real estate

Glad I'm not the only one. Don't get me wrong, I like the Note 4 a lot (especially the camera). But I'm on VZW, so who knows how long it'll take to obtain root or Android L.

I also bought from Best Buy. So 14 days to return the device. Should be no issues, as long as the phone is in good shape. The issue will be how Best Buy handles the $200 smartphone trade-in credit. I've heard that since this was a Samsung promo specific to the Note 4, we won't be able to get back the $200 credit.

Is the bloatware causing the lag in note 4 ? if so if you root and delete that crap would it stop ?

The Nexus 6 comes out after my return period so I returned my Note 4 and am using an old Nexus 4 for now. I want to be able to compare the Note 4 and Nexus 6 after the Nexus 6 has actual reviews, not just 5 minutes of hands on time. Had I kept the Note 4 and decided I like the Nexus 6 more I would have been pissed since I bought it outright.

If the Nexus 6 doesn't do it for me I'll just get another Note 4. I don't think that will be the case, though. I hate Touchwiz, I don't carry extra batteries, I don't use SD cards, I have no real use for the S Pen, etc. The only reasons I like the Note series is battery life and screen size and the Nexus 6 should meet both those needs just fine. I'll miss multi window in some situations, but it is hardly deal breaking.

Regarding lag, I had some on the Note 4 as well. The same picture stuff you guys are talking about, as well as super noticeable delays when pulling up the app switcher and some other things. It wasn't enough to make me hate the experience, but it was certainly noticeable.

And I'm on AT&T and heard there may never be a root, since something like the bootloader is locked? Excuse me if I'm confusing my terminology but I was able to root the note 3 AND miss that on the note 4

Is not concerned about the $200 trade in credit. I bought the note 4 outright, and traded in my Note 3 for $250 store credit

Only thing I worry about is if I trade in my Note 4, I won't have any phone for a while. Since I'm grandfathered in for unlimited data with AT&T, would I lose that?

Who all are planning on pre-ordering on Oct 29?

Have the Note 4 right now and think I'm going to pre-order the on the 29th. I'd rather order from the Playstore and sell my Note 4 if I decide to keep the Nexus. I don't trust buying an AT&T branded Nexus.

I'm preordering because Google has a pretty good return policy if I don't like it and decide to go back to the Note 4. I'm afraid if I don't it could take longer than I want to get it going by past Nexus devices. On the other hand, the 4 and 5 weren't $650 to start with 6" screens...

Can't believe so many people are in my situation!

If you don't mind my asking what makes you want to move from the note 4 to Nexus 6 too?

And how much you think we can get for selling the note 4 on eBay or other places?

lol wow Im surprised there are so many people who were in similar shoes as I. Keep the comments rolling!!

If I were you I would try to get a cheap loaner phone to use on At&t that way u can return note 4 for full price and pre order N6 then compare the two once N6 is out. That way all your options are open to you. I really did like the Note 4's camera and features but longevity seemed to be an issue to me because of the lag issues I was having.

Good idea. So let's say I return the note 4 for a "loaner" phone, like the LG G3. Will I be able to return the G3 within 14 days too?

I think I've decided to pre-order the nexus 6. Like you said want to try out my options. I agree longevity doesn't seem to be there with the note 4. . I should be psyched to have this phone but I was not very impressed at all. Do I like the note 4. Yes. If I paid it out of my own pockets would I be happy with it, hell no.

(my employer reimburse fully my Note 4 purchase)

It takes the same amount of time on the nexus 5 and also the iPad Air 2 that I have . And if I remember about the same for the iPhone 4 when I had it

That's not true at all in my experience. The Nexus 5 was SMOOTH every single time. There was zero inconsistency in it's performance. I'm actually surprised i'm having to defend it because it was so smooth and consistent. I LOVE my Note 4 and feel like I will be content for a long time with it, however it lags like a mother in quite a few scenarios. Call it lag, call it a pause, call it learning patience, call it santa clause, it's LAG. To me, lag is no big deal because I kinda expect computers to take a bit of time to do things. However the Nexus 5 did not lag once in the 11 months i've owned it.

5min at BestBuy was enough to convince me the Note 4 still has lag. You have to sort of know Samsung phones and TouchWiz to understand where the lag hides.

Most people swipe the home screens, open apps etc and think the phone is so fast.

But if you know where to look, e.g. opening a bunch of apps rapidly, then using recents, or opening the dialer after closing all apps, viewing gallery after using camera, opening multiple browsers and seeing them reload because of lack of memory, then you'll see the same lag that has existed since the beginning of time in TouchWiz.

There is no excuse for it and I reluctantly gave up removable battery and sd card support, I won't be buying another Samsung phone till they fix TouchWiz and Knox. My LG G2 has a skin people call bloated and it has no lag compared to Samsung's newest phones.

I canceled my Note 4 pre-order in favor of the Nexus 6. What intrigues me the most is the possibility of taking it from carrier to carrier. (although I'll never leave Verizon. (unlimited data)

I love how the new Note 4 commercials really push the use of the s-pen. I had the Note 3 and used the s-pen like 5 times ever. I am sure that many use it, but I am not artistic so I don't doodle. If I need to input something into my phone, call me crazy but I use a keyboard(Swifkey). I think Samsung knows that the N6 is a beast that is coming for their dollars and they are trying to keep people by using things like the s-pen to keep their customers. Again just my opinion.

So excuse this dumb question, because never bought from Google play store. If I buy the nexus 6, or pre-order, from there, I just take it to my local AT&T store to get a new sim card for it?

Yep. That is what I did with my Nexus 5. They will give you a new SIM if the only in your current phone does not fit for free.

Software updates are a big thing for me. I really like the way Lollipop looks. It will look nothing like that when the Note is updated by Samsung. I've had the Nexus 4 and 5 and liked them, but always ended up selling due to either screen size or inferior hardware. The 6 seems to be the whole package. Really depends on the quality of the screen and camera whether I return it or not.

Note 4 is going for ~$730 on Swappa right now. I don't want a carrier branded Nexus so I'll just sell my Note if I like the Nexus better and use that money to finance my Nexus purchase.

$730? Yikes I'm in lol

Maybe I'll do that. Keep the note 4, pre-order the nexus 6, and then decide when I have both which to keep. If I get $500-600 for note 4 by then, I'd be happy
