Returned Note 4, BRING ON THE NEXUS 6

I had the note 4 for 14 days and returned it for a full refund.

Hated Touchwiz. And considering the specs it lagged in certain areas which is just plain sad.

I really wanted the nexus 6. But being already sold out and not being available till end of November I couldn't wait that long.

So I decided to try out the LG G3 and boy am I glad I did
Loving this phone. It's 5.5 inch screen but can't tell much difference in Size from the note 4. And both being QHD I think the g3 is just as good as the note 4

Main difference is lack of bloatware and Touchwiz, on the g3. So sad bec I know it has the snapdragon 801 vs note 4 805 or something like that but the g3 just feels faster. It hadn't lagged at all, not like the note 4. . Again I blame Touchwiz, for the Note 4 lag.

To make a long story short, I will no longer go to Samsung phones or Note phones till they greatly improve or just take out Touchwiz. It really is horrible.

I have the Note 4 and the G3. The G3 lags also. It also overheats for no reason. I'm still trying to decide whether to return my Note 4 and get the Nexus 6. If I decide to do that, i'll be back on the G3 until I can get my refund and order the Nexus 6.

If you do get the nexus 6 I'd love to see your take on the note, g3, and n6

I agree the g3 does overheat but so did my Note 3. And so far I have no lag with one day of use on G3 but I experienced lag on the note 4 right out of the Box. Try pushing the recent apps button and tell me there isn't a slight delay. It is pretty noticeable.

I had lag on the Note 4 too, but I also had the same, maybe worse, lag on the G3. I also had nasty performance drop off in some of the few games I play. I personally couldn't stick with the G3 due to the heavy battery drain when the screen was above 50% brightness and you weren't on WiFi, the overheating, the mixed performance, and the overall dimness of the screen.

I hope it works out for you, but I just felt like LG rushed too much just so they could say "we were first". On that note, I did buy it right after the US launch so it is possible there have been improvement patches since then.

Having owned both Samsung and LG phones, I prefer LG by a lot! Simple things like Knock On/Off are a pleasure to use, the skin is lighter and has more features than TW rather than gimmicks, although its clearly inspired by TW :)

G2 and G3 are just awesome designs, minimal bezels, and great to hold. Both can also be rooted/unlocked unlike the Note 4, if that matters. I think the TW lag issue is a little overblown but I just like LG for some reason :)

I played a little bit with the Note 4 at Best Buy. I really like the way it feels, and although I don't like Touchwiz; it wasn't that bad for the brief time I used the phone. My problem with Samsung has always been the way Touchwiz completely takes over and there are almost no signs of Android. I like some of the features with the S-pen and multi-window. I just wish Samsung would give buyers a choice during setup whether to run stock Android or Touchwiz, but still had the ability to use some of their features. Motorola does this very well with the Moto X and I'm sure Samsung could also.

Touchwiz is fine... No lag for me and don't see why people love to complain about it.... Not as bad as the s2 and s3 Era..... The g3 will lag with its 801 cpu with a QHD screen

Re: Giving up the Note 4 for the Nexus 6

It amazes me how some can switch phones so fast, especially when not a single in-depth review or comparison video is even out.

Well considering there is only 14 days to return things, I had to make decision fast or be stuck with Note 4. At least this way I can choose to go back to note 4 if I dont like Nexus 6.

So because it's fine for you all the other people in the thread that had lag are lying? You know better than I do what I experienced in my use, on my phone? You're right, it isn't as bad as the S2 or S3, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. That doesn't mean it isn't bad enough to annoy people.

How about you hook me up with your contact info so I can reach out and ask you how I feel about my next phone?

I seen a review on youtube where the Note 4 basically locked up & became unresponsive for about 3 minutes or so & there are threads floating around on XDA with people complaining about lag. It's there, unfortunately & I hope Samsung addresses it in it's next batch of phones next year.

Comparison - Nexus 6 vs Note 4

SAMSUNG NOTE 4:
Brighter Screen
Multi Window
Swappable Battery
S-Pen
Virtual Reality accessories
Infrared

NEXUS 6
Front Stereo Speakers
Earlier updates from Google
Voice Commands from Standby - Though I read the Note 4 can be set up for this too but maybe with more cost to battery life?
Active Display - Notifications on Standby
Tap to Start ? - It seems not.
Wireless Charging

BOTH
Good Screens - Similar size given that Samsung uses separate buttons
Fast Charging

These are some of the main differences I've read so far. If anyone has any input I'll edit and add to the list.

MicroSD

NEXUS 6
Front Stereo Speakers
Lollipop at launch
Earlier updates from Google, and will likely see updates far longer

Active Display - Notifications on Standby
Tap to Start ? - It seems not.
Wireless Charging
Usable (at least if purchased from Play store) on all US carriers
No bloat (or, if any, none that can't be easily removed)

BOTH
Good Screens - Similar size given that Samsung uses separate buttons
Fast Charging

I am actually surprised Samsung is the android that seems to be the favorite of the masses. I manage the communications and calendar for a group of people. Even I am confused when I have to help someone with their Samsung. I use a Nexus 4. So the calendar is Google calendar; email is gmail; the settings all make sense. On their S4 they have the s-planner AND calendar... Their settings are all over the place... Im thinking no wonder they are confused.

It is just Samsung putting "their version" on the phone. I use all Google stuff on my Note 4 -- not the Samsung stuff.
