Hi Guys,

I'm having to return my Nexus 4 due to a hardware fault, stupidly the first thing I did was apply the rather expensive front and rear screen protectors that I bought for it.

Do you guys have any tips for saving them as I need to package up my faulty phone before the new one arrives.

Some idea's I have had is maybe sticking them to very a clean window (out of sunlight) or a shiny glass kitchen bowl or something along those lines.

It would be good to hear if someone has been in the same situation and managed to save and re-use their screen protectors, I can then use a known method that works!

Cheers.

Andy.

wouldn't you send back the faulty phone after you get your new phone?
At least thats how the replacement works

Nope, basically my phone was a contract upgrade. So its a straight swap with the courier tomorrow. Can't have him hanging around on the doorstep while I try fit the front and rear protectors!!

majiklantrn: This is the protector I bough, I class it as expensive as I picked up a pack of 5 for ?1:00 for my old iphone!! LG Google Nexus 4 FULL BODY SHIELD Invisible Screen Protector Front + Back | eBay

I have since removed them as I packaged the phone up ready for collection tomorrow, they are currently stuck to an oven dish in the kitchen. I'll post back tomorrow evening to let you know how I got on!!

I know I'm a cheap ass but times are hard in here at the moment in the UK!!

Thanks.

Andy.

So I went back to remove the screen protectors from the kitchen bowl and it felt like I'd stuck them on there using superglue! They were so hard to remove I though would surely be knackered due to the amount of stretching involved. (The screen protectors, not me!)

Anyway I had a bowl of warm soapy water ready so left them in there for a few minutes and used my fingers to wipe away the fingerprints from the sticky side of the protector, after a few mins I got rid of the excess water/soap and reapplied them.............much to my amazement they went back on good as new.

So, it is possible to re use screen protectors if you are careful, and I think wet application is definitely the way forward for getting a good finish.

Good tip for saving a few pennies/cents in the current climate!

Thanks.

Andy.

I wonder if this will work with SGP protectors? They are dry application protectors form the factory though. I'm about to have to sned my phone in due to the glass breaking, and I don't want to have to buy another protector.

I put the spigen one on last night and it looks like crap. With the curved glass it doesn't look good. Going to try the zagg since it has the adhesive.

The back protector looks fine.

Try sticking it to something glass until your new phone comes, with regards to the dry application one's.......I'm not sure if you can use the wet application technique with them??

The one I bought went on fine on the front and back, it did look as though it wouldn't stick down on the beveled edges but it did eventually, just left it to 'cure' overnight as it said in the instructions and you could hardly tell it was on there. Only slight issue I have though is that it is a little tacky to the touch and my finger doesn't slide across the screen quite as easily with it on.

I have heard that the front's don't scratch as easily as the front though so I may just leave the back one on and the front on off.

It's the sides that don't play well since they're curved. I'll either try a zagg or go naked on the front.
