Rezound data usage

I have had a rezound for about a month now, and my data usage is so much higher than my old Droid X. I installed a data tracker and found that the "Streaming Media" app was pulling allot of data. Even if I don't use my phone, that app is pulling between 70 & 90 MB's a day. This alone will exhaust my data plan. Any body know what this app is, and/ or how to disable it (preferably with out rooting)? Any other help would also be appreciated. Thanks!

go to the auto sync menu and deselect everything you don't need. If it is still using a lot of data, try disabling auto sync and see what happens. Btw, your usage is nothing, sometimes I use 10-20x that much in a day. If you use a lot of data, you might want to consider getting unlimited data through AoL.

Get used to using your phone less than you ever dreamt you'd have to if your on a tiered usage plan. Using 3g on my DX2, I averaged about 8gb a month. Since I got my Rezound, usage has skyrocketed more and more each month. This months end billing cycle is 4 days away. I've already accumulated 37.198gb, at present. 4g is hog on data, be it browsing, streaming vids/movies/music, it's ridiculous how shocking it is to see how easy it would be to burn through a tiered plan, in days, much less, in a few hours.

Thanks for the responses. I actually have an unlimited data plan, but I'm afraid of being throttled back. Is it 4g or is it the phone? My wife's RAZR doesn't suffer from the problem.

Also, I tried turning off all background sync, and the "Streaming Media" app still pulled 20mb's sitting in my pocket in under an hour.

Remember the Rezound has an HD screen. Any media files streamed will generally stream in HD if the supplier/app supports it. HD data size is a lot larger than the data required for the lesser resolution of non HD phones for the same media.

Take the advice of previous posters and limit the streaming/background updates, etc to only that which you really want.

I am a major lightweight compared to you guys ... though I am rarely in 4G. I have three days left on my cycle and I've used about a half of gb.

That's understandable, your safety conscious and refrain from texting while blading.:p Though your data usage is small, as long as that half a gig is quality, who cares about quantity.

Damn....i am only at 33gb at present. :-(

Verizon doesn't throttle 4glte smartphones. Don't worry, even if they start, they would have to warn you first. And verizon throttling depends on network load, so technically, you could use 1tb a month and never be throttled.

I normally hit 6 to 8 gig of use in a month. So what if I watched all 366 episodes of bleach in one month? Just glad I'm grandfathered in....

Same here..I have unlimited as well..its a life saver..I love having 4G and not having to worry about going over any sort of data cap..lol:cool::)

U guys are lucky. I wish I had unlimited data... I can't afford anything over the $30 4GB plan. Verizon is just too expensive :'(

For those without unlimited data...did you try the hotspot trick to get unlimited? The long and the short of it is that you get the unlimited 4G hotspot for however much it costs then cancel it. Some have done so on the same day, others after a few days. In most if not all cases they were upgraded to unlimited phone data, and kept it after the plan change.

It worked for several months but was canned I believe last month. Again, the only way to get unlimited now is through AoL.

 I probably should know what AoL refers to, off the top pf my head but I'm drawing blanks
at the moment.

Assumption of Liability. For those interested, I saw some for sell on ebay. Of course, it will cost, but, if you use a lot of data, then it may be worth it to get unlimited unthrottled 4glte.

Can you give me a link for this? I'm interested in what it is. Because honestly I can't believe a 3rd party product can unlock an internal Verizon data cap. Or is it a hotspot like Clear?

Assumption of Liability is basically taking over someone else's account. They will transfer their account to your name. I have done this before, basically, the account owner will call verizon, say they want to transfer the account to someone else, then verizon will call them to verify their identity and credit worthiness, and then the buyer would be the new account owner. There may be other ways like the old owner could give verizon the info and the new owner can call in, I am not really sure, I did it a long time ago. I am not sure the policy on linking to ebay links, some forums don't allow it, but you can search for "verizon unlimited data " in ebay and it should come up. If not, let me know.
