Rezound vs Galaxy Nexus

I am going from the Bionic to the Rezound. After checking out the Nexus in person and reviewing the specs. I believe the Rezound to be the better phone. I personally like the removable SD card, the screen seems to be clearer on the Rezound while the colors may be brighter on the Nexus. I don't like the limitation of a 16 or 32 GB version when I currently have 48 GB total with my 32 GB card in my Rezound. The camera on the Rezound to me seems better than the Nexus after using both. The major positive aspect of the Nexus is the ICS implementation. I don't talk about phones this way and I really believe that the Rezound is one of the best phones, accross all platforms, I have ever used.

P.S.: I have had the Rezound about a week now.

In Verizon today, took a nexus and a Rezound side by side and fired up same you tube. Had them timed same so I could do side by side of display. Rezound was much clearer. Granted, we still only have 3G, and nexus is still being debugged, Rezound seems to be my choice. Hardware for hardware, too close to call. Software, ICS is the next best thing, but I do miss 4th capacitive. Beats audio, WOW. Feel, I like the heft of the Rezound. I am still going to give it a couple weeks to see what tinkering is done to nexus, and see if Rezound does any $ changes....

I pretty much had my mind made up that I was going with the Zound. There was very little draw for me to anything else including the GN. After reading post after post how good this phone is I knew this is what I wanted. This is the something I did when the Inc was rumored in the forums. Basically pined and waited. One difference is we were all waiting. The second difference was there wasn't anything else anybody wanted and it didn't really have any competition. From what I can see neither does the Zound, IMO of course.

It makes me feel good to think I'm two for two on great devices.

Gang,
I went with the Nexus.

My dinc is still going strong and I got rid of sense a month ago. I was rooted for a year just never put a rom on, just debloated.
I love the rezound. Really nice design, but I wanted a change. Maybe I will regret it, maybe not, but if anyone has any htc or sense questions I will answer them.

Sense is the reason I went with Android because it made it less daunting of an OS. For half price, I said why not try something new.

I went Nexus. Rezound is amazing but the Nexus drew me in for a few reasons.

It's size. It really is bigger.

Not as cheap feeling as i thought. The fact the the battery cover isn't edge to edge like the rezound means no squeaks

and mainly. Stock. I know i can flash ICS on the Rezound eventually. But the longevity of the nexus may be longer imo. HTC pushes out so many awesome phones that dev support and hype(yea, this matters) dies down. With the Nexus. this phone will be relevant for a long time.

All in all, the Rezound is an amazing device. I just think the Nexus was for me.

I'm still debating between the Rezound and the Nexus. One of the things I'm wondering about is the Rezound's shutter speed. How quickly does it take pictures? It probably doesn't take them at the rate the Nexus does, but I take it that it probably take them fairly quickly. Comments Rezound owners?

Rezound puts the Nexus to shame..

I don't know if I'd go that far. Both phones are amazing devices, and both devices have their flaws. It all boils down to what are you willing to put up with. If you narrow your choice down to one of these two phones, I really don't think you can make a wrong decision.

Had the Nexus been delayed again, I was walking out of the Verizon store with a Rezound, and I would have been just fine with that.

I think its great we have the choice between IMO two great phones. Just think you could have to decide between and white or black iPhone. One of the best things about Android is having these different phones that will make any user happy.

I better go throw on some waders, there is alotta GN flavored haterade getting dumped on these threads lately.

Not really. People are trippin hard over the GN but in reality it's a test platform for ICS and app creation / compatibility with ICS. NFC capability (which is supported by almost nobody) and HD Super Amoled display don't push the GN past neither the Rezound nor the Razr honestly.

The GN craze is remarkably similar to the iPhone crazes the Android world has to bear annually.

Heh according to Motorola, you choose White or Black and boost their profit margin with a single choice

Personally, if I could get the gn for the same price that I paid for my Rezound, then there is a good chance that I may switch, but if I asked, i am sure that they would laugh in my face.

Curious, on the VZ website for my upgrade the Rezound and Nexus are listed at the same price $249 for upgrade.

Lack of external/swappable SD card memory and a 5MP camera bumped the Nexus down and made the Rezound my choice.

Both will be obsolete in 6 months, hadda finally decide. Waited for the Nexus, was impressed but really the only thing it has is ICS. Not enough to sway me.

If its not instant, it's damn close. It's about as close to instant as I want it, it's hard to hold the thing still enough sometimes, so the split second (barely perceptible) to refocus is nice. The action burst mode took 5 pics in about a second, if that helps.

I have heard the GNex is so instant, it can be hard to keep focus. Don't bite though on the MP's on the camera. 5 is plenty on a phone. I have a semi-pro cannon that shoots at 12mp, and I've never blown a pic up bigger than a 11x14, and 2mp will cover that.

I played w/ the GN again when I picked up an ext. battery earlier. After comparing the 2 screens, I felt like I was in a Roger Rabbit movie when looking at the screen on the GN. It's Amoled display makes everything look cartoonish, it's so oversaturated it looks silly when viewing videos or browsing. It's remarkable how different it is comparatively.

A couple of comparative comments: Gnex, Razr and Rezound were all on my shopping list and had not made up my mind until the Costco deal surfaced. Honestly really liking my Rezound, so that colors my perception a bit I'm sure. I went and played with the Gnex side-by-side with my Rezound today and a few things jumped out at me: Gnex screen colors are a bit brighter, whites a little whiter. Call me delusional, but I could see a mild level of pixelation/fuzziness on the Gnex, the Rezound screen is just clearly sharper although they are both excellent screens and I would be happy with the Gnex screen. Very disappointed in the stutter I saw on the Gnex, I thought ICS hardware acceleration was going to kill that. Maybe the display model was messed up, but several times the screen actually hung up for a second midway through opening the app drawer. I put both phones in Map and set the screens to rotate with direction, when I rotated them together the Gnex almost always hesitated a bit before rotating, the Rezound never did. GPS acquisition was faster on the Rezound, the Gnex "uncertainty circle" never went away, while the Rezound's did. ICS is very cool, but has a bit of a learing curve...sometimes the menu buttons go to dots and you have to try to remember which ones were which (I'm actually kind of used to that on the RZ since the haptic buttons almost never light up unless it's almost full dark, hope HTC can bugfix that). The Gnex is very nice looking, slim and lighter than my chubby RZ, the curved screen is classy...but they had the battery cover taped on with duct tape. I know in real life you won't go around with a cable glued to the back of your phone and 200 people a day playing with it, but nevertheless that was a disturbing picture, considering the phone had only been on display for a day. I did test camera shots side-by-side and both looked similarly sharp, the RZ pics were a little truer to color than the Gnex, who's pics had a kind of grayish tint comparison. Speedtest results showed the Gnex running about 20% faster in download than the RZ in that particular location. Playing with the home screens on the Gnex, I kind of missed being able to go all the way around instead of back and forth, but this is probably not a big deal since I'm finding it's actually faster to quick-tap the home button and jump straight to the home screen I want. I've found the 7 home screens to be quite useful on the RZ, I think I'd miss that going back to the 5 on the Gnex. My phone is my primary (only, really) portable player, and unlike what appears to be the majority of users, I'm finding the Beats enhancement and buds to be fantastic...I've always been accused of over-boosting my bass so it's a great fit for me (btw, try listening to the Demon Days version of Gorillaz' "Dare" on the RZ - holy cow). Also unlike what appears to be the majority, coming from 2 years of a "plain vanilla" Android experience on my OG Droid (which I loved), I have found the RZ's Sense UI refreshing, slick, and attractive; and at least on my phone it does not appear to bog the interface down a bit. Because of this, I don't mind waiting a bit for ICS, and I'm hoping HTC keeps the best of Sense when they port ICS over to the RZ. In summary, I don't think either phone is startlingly better than the other, at $50 vs. $300 there is no contest, if I was paying full freight for both it would be a very close horse race which for me I think the RZ would win by a nose based on perceptions of a slightly better screen, better camera, better build quality, lack of lag, possibly better battery life (based on some fairly-disturbing reviews I've read on the Gnex, see The Verge review, no personal observation) free $100 earbuds and an awesome music experience.
