Rezound vs Galaxy Nexus

I think they will probably adapt Sense bit for ICS.

I am not a fan of any Vendor UI. I got the Rezound in SPITE of Sense, not because of it. But ICS has its issues as well. from what I understand you cant use 3rd party launchers with it yet and that is a problem for me.

I've actually used Zeam and ADW Ex on ICS and both work fine. Went back to stock ICS launcher though.

Its kind of funny because I never said or implied that ICS doesn't have problems. But, there is one simple probability regarding HTC and if and when it ever upgrades their devices to ICS. That is with them corrupting it with Sense UI, it will almost certainly not be recognizable as being ICS. I will also bet their sponsors and bloat manufacturers will be very easily identified.

I think those w/ the newest releases running the stock Sense UI(s) will fare alright. I'm interested to see what they do w/ ICS only b/c they were seriously considering scrapping Sense 4.0 for a more stock ICS experience. Sense on a diet or it's overweight sibling.Who knows what they got coming down the pike?

What prompted the revert?

Zeam had a problem with not staying in memory and closing/reopening frequently. ADW EX is nice, but not as smooth as the ICS launcher. I'm sure I could tweak the settings in ADW to make it better, but I'm pretty happy with the ICS launcher along with the extra features CyanogenMod adds to it.

Haha, this thread is comical. Good stuff everyone.

What I want to know is how many of you arguing in here have owned both phones and have first hand knowledge / experience with both phones? Not just tested them in the stores or used your friends, but actually set them both up with everything you need and used them to get stuff done every day.

I think more than a few of us are like me and actually have owned/used both. I got the GN and truly loved the phone... I think most will agree it's a beautiful phone, extremely light for the size, fits perfect in the hand, has a bad ass screen and ICS really kicked ass (although as a graphic designer I really wish Google would put a little more effort into some of their icon designs / some seemed pretty poor IMO but aesthetics are easy changed) .

That being said I was one of the people that experienced some real legit issues like a weak signal and complete data drops, etc. Those issues (for me) were enough to make me take the phone back and get the Rezound. And I do realize that there is a good chance that future updates or fixes from the Dev community could remedy those issues. But with a return deadline of Jan 15th I did not want to take the risk. Truth be told I wanted to keep the phone and was sad to see it go.

Now that I have the Rezound IMHO it's an all around better phone and I'm not looking back. That's just my opinion and the bottom line is both phones are great and both will have their issues. No phone will be perfect as we all know :) So regardless of which phone you have sit back and enjoy all of the goodness that Android is.

I've also had both. I absolutely loved the rezound, had zero issues with it. I just needed a device that would last me 2 years and the nexus guarantees that. The rezound will be replaced by htc and take months to get updates like other oem devices. I knew the buyers remorse would kick in sooner or later and the nexus has such a large backing, the pros outweigh the cons. At least they do for me. YMMV.

I can understqnd why you chose the GN. Had you known the Rezound would be unlocked. How much tougher would the choice have been when your were shopping phones?

It probably would've been the same choice. When I saw how quickly the nexus s got ics I knew that getting a nexus was an investment, especially with the gigantic backing this one has. I put my personal feelings aside and picked the logical choice in my position. The rezound is a fantastic device. Those of you who are happy with it I'm happy for.

Also youngzayiles, care to post what your mbps write and read speeds are from your memory? Curious, as you've stated that it is faster without actually providing proof.

A quick google brings this up:

My own personal Rezound:

Doesn't look like the read speeds are too much different. Granted the write speeds are great compared to my run that day.

Interesting score on the Rezound. My wife's Rezound scores no higher than 5882 no matter how many times I run it. My Nexus scores around 6100 +/- 100.

Edit: I just ran Anatutu a couple more times on my wife's Rezound. She's still scoring in the 5800 range. I noticed the 3D Graphics score on both the Rezound & Nexus get scores in the 1200's. I see the 3D Graphics score on your Rezound scores in the 2200's. This doesn't jive.

I have. I bought my GN on the day it came out. I really liked the display and the overall snappiness of the device. But the lousy camera and weak signal reception were two fundamentals I simply couldn't overlook. So I exchanged it for the Rezound.

After a week with the Rezound, there's only one thing I can say I liked better about the GN: the snappiness. Although the Rezound is certainly responsive to the touch, the GN was more... instantaneous. I plan to debloat as I'm told that will improve responsiveness, but since it really is plenty responsive as is, I'm in no hurry to do that.

Other than that, I prefer the Rezound in every way. On the day I exchanged the GN, I looked at the screens side-by-side. Although I always thought the GN display was excellent, its colors really are oversaturated in comparison to the Rezound's. The camera on Rezound is leaps-and-bounds better than on the GN. I was never able to take a well-focused picture with the GN. The Rezound, on the other hand, takes great, well-focused pictures, even in low-light. It really does rival my point-and-shoot camera. And most importantly, the Rezound can hold a signal. With the GN, I had problems with 4G, 3G and even phone signals. Those issues have all but disappeared with the Rezound.

So count me as a very happy GN->Rezound convert.

Yea, occasionally my GPU gets powered by Thor or something like that. Once or twice a day it will run twice it's normal processing power. I'm still trying to figure out what it is that is doing it...

I had the nexus and had the signal issues that is widely reported just got the rezound today and where i had no 4g and little signal I now have good signal on the rezound and way faster download and upload speeds. The radio in the rezound is much better from what I can tell.

Congratulations, I'm glad you found something that you like.

Hummm. I think before I make a decision on what I'm going to do before the 15th, I'm going to flash the radios from 4.0.3 and see what happens. I'm just so undecided. The camera would be among the biggest reasons to switch back over for me. Ughhh.

(though, I suppose its a good thing that we have two great devices on Verizon to choose from)

Honestly, I have signal issues but the camera hasn't been a problem for me.
Finally people are simmering down and appreciate it when someone chooses a device that isn't the same model.

If you're happy with the rezound congrats and enjoy it!

Wisdom, both phones perform very well and are good to go for some time! How about a galaxy with beats? Ha ha

You haven't done that yet? That's a smart move, I think it would be a shame to ditch the GN w/out tossing the latest radio in that bowl of ice cream to seal the deal or get reacquainted.

I don't think it would got above a simmer if people would've kept things intelligent & debate oriented rather than enter the fray eschewing, defensive & opinionated povs.
