Rezound vs Galaxy Nexus

You haven't done that yet? That's a smart move, I think it would be a shame to ditch the GN w/out tossing the latest radio in that bowl of ice cream to seal the deal or get reacquainted.

I tried it for part of a day, but then almost exchanged it so I had to put it back to stock.

One thing that someone said in another thread (can't remember if it was here or in the Nexus Forum) that made a lot of sense to me was when you have a good camera, you're more inclined to use it more. When I had my iPhone, I used the camera A LOT. The Nexus not so much. I have a feeling with the Rezound I would use the camera a lot more.

But still, my biggest hold-up is what ICS Sense will look like. BMX posted that he has seen some early ROMs of the new Sense, so I sent him a tweet asking what it was like. (and specifically if it carries over some of ICS' new features, like folders, the widget menu, font, etc.)

I've been running the latest radio for the last few days. My Speedtest.net results seem much better. I scored 36 down / 12 up today. That's a lot higher than I've ever gotten with this phone. Call quality seems improved as well. I'm going to pay close attention to this radio. January 15th is fast approaching.

Glad that worked out in your favor, feels good when a fix works. Hope that plays out w/ others, as well in the near future. Shame the GN has lost a number of owners cuz they rushed to bring it to the market, w/ a poorly coded radios.

Speedtest.net is not a very accurate app I heard.

Most likely Samsung's fault. I've had the Fascinate, Charge and now the Nexus and all had buggy radios.

I think it was more like:

They were waiting to release it until the radios were ready, but their hands were forced and they had to release an imperfect version of the software.

You definitely will, my bros GN is a capable enough shooter in itself. I was impressed the SGSII but I feel the Rezound is only bested by the iP4S in overall quality by a small margin. Didn't think a HTC device could be this impressive but the did.

He went on hiatus from the VGN forum for so long I had doubts the Panda was still alive and kicking over @ Google. I'll have to head over there to see what he's been posting lately. I hope he wasn't referencing that Sense 3.5 w/ ICS rom running on the Sensation from several weeks ago, over on XDA. That may have been in early stages of development but it definitely wasn't my cup of tea based on the screenshots that were posted.

I cab tell you exactly what sense will look like. It will look almost exactly how it currently does. They will probably follow the trend of previous phones by HTC and do it similar to the new builds of touchwiz which looks pretty much the same. Smh

From the best android phone PERIOD. Galaxy Nexus.

Unfortunately it may have been rushed. But, in the case of the Nexus, VZW was damned if they did, and damned if they didn't. Do you remember how many people in these forums thought the phone was being delayed simply over bloatware and Google Wallet?

Hummm. I think before I make a decision on what I'm going to do before the 15th, I'm going to flash the radios from 4.0.3 and see what happens. I'm just so undecided. The camera would be among the biggest reasons to switch back over for me. Ughhh.

(though, I suppose its a good thing that we have two great devices on Verizon to choose from)

After you flash the radio, flash AOKP rom and Franco's kernel. The nexus is not an out of the box phone. It needs to be rooted and romed for you to truly appreciate what it can do.

Google Wallet was a joke but they did have some user verification issues w/ the My Verizon app communicating over their network in early Nov. if I recall. Not a big issue b/c it was wrapped up quick but nonetheless. That whole Google Wallet thing was pretty amusing though. They kinda just grabbed onto that one and ran off w/ it. Although, that attorney made a good point when he raised the issue in that article that circulated.

So your telling me that if I want to see what the Sense UI will look like over ICS. I can get good render from watch my dog take a dump. Thank God, for devs and custom roms, keeping the Android pilot light from getting snuffed by oem products.

I know I personally won't be taking the OTA ICS update for the Rezound. I'll wait patiently for the pre-rooted clean ICS ROMs to come out.

quick question about the signal issues between rezound and gnex. is it true that the nexus is reporting lte signal strength while other verizon phones (rezound) are reporting evo signal strength?

just wondering b/c i thought my gnex had slow data speed, dl and ul. i usually only had 1 bar on 4G and around -108dbm. when i got my rezound i have 3-4 bars now but im actually getting the same speeds and sometimes even lower. oh and my rezound usually shows -82dbm which is a huge difference. so im wondering if my rezound shows 3g strength while the nexus showed lte/4g strength? just curious b/c this is one of the reasons i took it back.

also, does anyone know of an update fixing the volume. saw somewhere on here stating that verzino rep told them an update would be coming to fix the problem and that verizon has stated that they know about it? to what standard of truth this is, dont know?

What the Rezound shows is strictly shows voice strength of whatever it's using. However, it is a gauge for data, in that data seems to weaken when voice is poor(*).......And yes, the GN does give voice and data. It's not the first to do this on a Verizon LTE device. I believe the LG Revolution featured this first, in a slightly different manner, though. I've been using the OSM app and was told that on the widget, it reports both voice and data, in real time. There is a number on the far right that signifies the data strength for what band is in use at the time. Which seems to make sense because on the far left is the voice strength which always corresponds with the OS sytems -dbm. Whereas the data number is quite different from voice.

(*) I speculate this b/c I lose my data speed everytime voice is weak.

im trying to understand what your wrote my apologizes. so in a nutshell, the nexus shows 4g strength/data more accurately? is the safe to say?

Yes, the stock GN indicates both voice and data signals. Rezound will only indicate voice signal, out of the box.

For me, loss of signal in 'cell standby' was one of the measures I was going by. It got to be ridiculously high with the Nexus while with the Rezound I rarely see it at 1 or 2 percent and never higher. It really didn't matter where I was....kept both phones on 3g almost exclusively.

Isn't it the same signal whether there is one bar, or more? Or is there more than just 0 or 1 in a digital signal?

I think looking at bars is misleading. I think you can have zero bars and still have a signal. I'm looking instead at the battery stats.
